Altered Carbon is based on Richard K. Morgan’s 2002 novel of the same name. Created by Laeta Kalogridis, the show sets in future San Francisco, called Bay City, where the memories of any entity can be changed or replaced. The basic concept on which the show is when a synthetic body or “sleeve” dies, his or her memory or “stack” can transfer to new bodies. In this way, one can live for forever.

The anime of Altered Carbon has developed by Netflix with the purpose of becoming the most compelling and attractive home for anime fans, creators and production studios, as per the press release. Netflix has been working on this from long to delve in anime fans from all around the world.
Also, as per Variety, the anime is not going to have the same plot and character as that of the TV series. The spin-off anime will present a whole new content for the fans.
Cast Updates
The audience will see almost a brand new casting on Altered Carbon Season 2. Captain America star Anthony Mackie has joined the series, replacing Joel Kinnaman as the lead Takeshi Kovacs. Not just this, Netflix released a video of all the cast members which are going to feature in the second season of the series. According to that, Michael Shanks, Simone Missick, Dina Shihabi, James Saito and Torben Liebrecht has joined the second season.
Along with these new additions, the audience will see the old faces like Chris Connor and Renne Elise Goldsberry in Altered Carbon Season 2 as well.
Plot Details
The second season of Altered Carbon is based on the book, Broken Angels by Richard Morgan. The sophomore run of the series is going to feature a 30-year time-lapse from its debut season. At the end of the first season, the audience saw Kovacs’ consciousness got transferred to a new host, Anthony Mackie. Though he gets transported to a whole new planet, he will have to face the same the exact same dilemma of an escaping haunted man.
