Altered Carbon is a science-fiction dystopian series of Netflix. The show is based on a novel of the same name by Richard K. Morgan. According to that, the future human bodies are interchangeable, and death is no longer perpetual. Takeshi Kovacs, the lead protagonist, is the only surviving warrior of a group of elite interstellar warriors who got defeated in an uprising against the new world order.
The shows’ unique plot stand it out from another Netflix’s science fiction shows. It also has a gigantic following across the globe. The famous sci-fi series is known for its enormous action scenes.

Altered Carbon Season 2: Major Cast Updates

This time, the audience will almost see a brand new casting in the second season. Anthony Mackie (Marvel’s Falcon) is going to replace Joel Kinnaman as the lead Takeshi Kovacs. Along with him, Simone Missick (MCU’s Detective Misty Knight) had joined the second season as Trepp, Dina Shihabi (Marvel’s Daredevil) as Dig 301, Torben Liebrecht (Operation) as Colonel Ivan Carrera and James Saito (The Terror) as Tanaseda Hideki.
Michael Shanks (Stargate) is also headed to science fiction universe with the second season of Altered Carbon. The actor is going to join the series along with the other new-comers. However, his character in the upcoming season has not revealed yet.

Also, some similar faces from the first season will also return, including Renée Elise Goldsberry and Chris Connor as Quellcrist Falconer and Edgar Poe.
Not just the cast members, Alison Schapker also took over from Laeta Kalogridis as the new show-runner. Though Kalogridis will look out the production stuff, Schapker will develop and produce a brand new original script for the second season.

The Second Season Will Have Significant Time Jump

The second season will follow Richard K. Morgan’s book, Broken Angels. And, Broken Angels takes place three decades after Richard’s first novel on which season one took place. Therefore, the next installment of the Netflix series will feature a 30-year-long time-lapse. That is why there has been a significant cast change for the second season of Altered Carbon.
At the finale of the first season, Kovacs left Earth along with his body. The second season will see his consciousness transported to a different planet and there he will involve with some new riot. This will also add up to the 30-years time gap, which will feature in the second season.

Altered Carbon Season 2: Premiere Date


The second season of Altered Carbon is also going to have VFX driven post-production. This is also one of the reasons why the release date has been push forward. Therefore, the show would likely release sometime in early 2020. However, Netflix has not announced the actual premiere date for Altered Carbon Season 2 yet.
