As these are the last episodes of the series. Netflix had announced back in June 2020, even before the fourth season of the show released, that it would be the last season. That means we will never get Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 5. Why though?
What Is Happening To Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 5?
Why Netflix decided to end the show is still a mystery. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was one of the most popular shows on the streaming giant, so we know that viewership wasn’t a reason. While Netflix hasn’t yet revealed a reason why they decided to cancel the show, it looks like one of the reasons for this cancellation is COVID-19. In an interview recently, Ross Lynch says that they would have had ten more episodes if the COVID would not have happened. There could have been some contributing factors to this cancellation, but we don’t know much about it.
The Cast and The Crew
While the actual reason for this cancellation hasn’t been revealed, but we know that this wasn’t something that the showrunner, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, was expecting. In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, Sacasa says that making the show Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has been an honor for them since day one.
In an interview with Inverse, Actress Kiernan Shipka, who plays the character of Sabrina Spellman, shared how she felt about this conclusion. She says that she felt “satisfied” with the way the show is concluding. She didn’t want her role to end, but she likes this conclusion.
In the interview, she says that one gets close to their characters. Speaking about her character Sabrina she says that the characters in the show have become friends, confidants and it is a way they can talk about their emotions. Letting go of this role is hard. But it is also quite beautiful. Shipka says that she will forever be grateful to Sabrina. She is the one who helped her get through it.
What’s Next for All the Sabrina Fans
While Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is ending on-screen, fans of the show will get to see more of this universe through Riverdale Season 5. Not just that, Sabrina’s story isn’t over. After making the announcement of the show concluding, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa took on to his social media to announce that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 5 will continue in a comic book form. This fifth season that will come in as comic will be called Witch War. This comic book will introduce the big crossover between Riverdale and CAOS that the fans had been waiting for.
