HBO Asia’s first Japanese production Miss Sherlock is a refreshed version of the classic character Sherlock Holmes. This mini-series will have 8 episodes and is a co-production venture of HBO Asia and Hulu Japan. This spin-off will come in form of a British-born Japanese woman Yuko Takeuchi whom we have seen in movies like The Ring.
Over the years Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes has proved to be one of the most overused source material. The Baker Street detective has made his appearance in several TV shows, films, and plays. In the recent entries, BBC’s Sherlock portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch and Robert Downey Jr’s film adaptation who’s sequel has been confirmed for 2019 enjoys a great fandom.

If we talk about the plot of the series, it revolves around Yuko Takeuchi (Sherlock) who is a British-born Japanese woman. She meets Dr. Wato Tachibana (Dr. Watson), a surgeon who has just returned from a medical mission in Syria. The duo will become friends and then become partners in solving crimes. The Japanese audience is also very excited about the series with several hashtags like #Watolock trending on Tumblr.
Miss Sherlock retains all the qualities of Sherlock Holmes and with her skills help the police department in solving perplexing, peculiar crimes. Throughout the series, Sara Shelly Futaba will be seen solving several bizarre and difficult cases with her extraordinary observation and reasoning skills. Miss Sherlock’s first episode will be available on 1st Sept on HBO. The series is scheduled to air new episodes every Friday morning.
