Homecoming Season 2 is on the way for the beloved fans of the thriller drama. Amazon Prime’s one of the most popular series is in development. And without keeping any peace, the fans of the series are longing to know every update on the sophomore run of the series.
Homecoming is a psychological thriller series of Amazon Prime in collaboration with UCP. Eli Horowitz and Micah Bloomberg created the series which is based on their podcast of the same name. The show initially received an order for two seasons by Amazon Prime. Homecoming has been received positively by the audience and the critics as well.
Debuted in November 2018, Homecoming featured Julia Roberts as a social worker at the Homecoming Transitional Support Center, a live-in facility. The purpose of that facility is to apparently help soldiers transition to civilian life, though why they needed this help is unclear. Later, she gets to know that she was misled the whole time about the real purpose of the facility.
Kyle Patrick Alvarez Set To Direct The Sequel
Taking over the director’s chair from Sam Esmail, Kyle Patrick Alvarez (The Standford Prison Experiment) will direct the Homecoming Season 2. Series creators and executive producers Micah Bloomberg and Eli Horowitz also shared their views on the joining of Alvarez.
According to the duo, they are so lucky to have Kyle Alvarez on board to direct season 2, his enthusiasm and relentless creativity are already taking the show in exciting new directions. Alvarez will also serve as the executive producer for the second season.
Homecoming Season 2: Cast Updates
As the lead, Julia Roberts signed only a single-year deal; she will not return for the sophomore run of the show. Also, last month, news came up that Janelle Monae will take over as the lead of the upcoming run of Homecoming. She will play a tenacious woman who finds herself floating in a canoe, with no memory of how she got there or who she is.
From the previous season, Stephen James and Hong Chau are reportedly returning for the Homecoming Season 2. James has also received Golden Globe nomination for his fantastic performance in the first season opposite Julia Roberts and is returning for the role of Walter Cruz. Also, Chau will reprise his role of Audrey Temple. Also, Bobby Cannavale and Shea Whigham are likely to return in their characters for Homecoming Season 2.

The first season of Homecoming was derived from the popular Gimlet Media’s podcast. There has not been any update on the plot for the second season of Homecoming. However, the second season will deviate from the actual plot and will feature a new story involving new characters.

As of now, the series is in the pre-production phase. Therefore, the audience needs to wait sometime for the second season. The first season of Homecoming premiered in November 2018. Therefore, Homecoming Season 2 would also premiere by the end of 2019, or in early 2020.
