CBS recently renewed some of its shows for the upcoming year slot. And Madam Secretary Season 6 is onboard. The fifth season of the series just ended in April 2019, and after one month, the series got the renewal for its next season. Madam Secretary Season 6 will be next and unfortunately, the final season of the series.
Madam Secretary is CBS’s political drama series, created by Barbara Hall. The show focuses on Elizabeth McCord (Tea Leoni), a former CIA analyst and political science professor turned Secretary of State. The series debuted in September 2014. Its fans and the critics have well received the series all along its run. However, the fifth season saw a slight decrease in its viewership though that did not stop CBS from renewing the series for another run.
Over its run, Madam Secretary attracted some very famous fans, fans who would know a thing or two about the state department. The season five premiere featured Hillary Clinton, Colin Powell and Madeleine Albright as themselves.
Madam Secretary Season 6: Final Season Of The Series
The series has been kept on the bubble since its few seasons. It also topped USA Today’s annual Save Our Show Poll. Although, after the renewal news of the show in May, another shocking news came out for the fans of Madam Secretary. The sixth season will be the final installment of the series. Madam Secretary Season 6 will feature ten-episode queue for the series.
What Will Happen In The Upcoming Season?
The finale of the fifth season left the audience with a massive cliffhanger. It featured McCord announcing her run for the Oval Office. Meanwhile, Peter (Skipp Sudduth) and all the people who were there in the UN security council in Geneva died from poisoning. The murder took place by a white nationalist group called the Knights of Western Freedom. They are the people who accept refugees and who are against countries.
On the other hand, Elizabeth’s rival, Callister (Will Chase) suspended his presidential campaign after his campaign manager got arrested for soliciting illegal campaign funds from Russia, accusing Elizabeth and her team of orchestrating McCord.
The co-creators of the show, Barbara Hall and Lori McCreary talked about the plot of the upcoming season with TVLine. According to them, the sixth season will feature Elizabeth’s experiences as a candidate in a political party and the presidential election. They also stated that they always wanted to pull back the curtain on the State Department and show the process of diplomacy. Therefore, this season will pull off the curtains on the campaigns and everything that involves.
Madam Secretary Season 6: Release Date
The sixth and final season of Madam Secretary is scheduled to release on October 6, 2019. Though, there has not been any news on the beginning of production work for the Madam Secretary Season 6 yet. The network also renewed SEAL Team, S.W.A.T., Bull, Hawaii-Five-O, and MacGyver, and magazine shows 60 Minutes and 48 Hours along with Madame Secretary.
