Narcos: Mexico is one of the most famous crime drama series of Netflix. The series got the set fan base of its parent series, Narcos. However, it also succeeded in bringing more audience to the streaming giant. And since the release, the fans started asking for its second run, Narcos Mexico Season 2. Netflix also didn’t take much time and renewed the show for its sophomore run in December 2018, just after the debut of the first season.
Narcos Mexico focused on the establishment of the modern Mexican drugs trade, concentrating on real-life narco Felix Gallardo, a former Sinaloan police officer turned drug lord, and Kiki Camarena, a Mexican-American DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) agent tasked with taking Felix down.
The show is set in the 1980s in Mexico and is quite a part of Narcos franchise. However, both of them are self-contained stories, as Narcos focused on Pablo Escobar, (Wagner Moura) and Cali Cartel. Narcos Mexico previously set to be the fourth installment of the parent franchise, but later on, turned out to be a companion series.
Netflix announced the second season with an exclusive video. Since the announcement, the streaming giant has been pretty tight-lipped about the upcoming season of cartel drama. Although, the first season led us to some conclusions for Season 2. Lets check them out.

Narcos Mexico Season 2: Cast Details
In Season 2, Scoot McNairy (12 Years of Slave) will come affront on the screen as DEA agent Walt Breslin, following the death of Kiki Camarena. Other than him, the entire cast from the previous season will surely return for the second run too. This will include Diego Luna as the narco kingpin Felix Gallardo, Tenoch Huerta as Rafael Cara Quintero, Teresa Ruiz as Felix’s girlfriend Isabella Bautista, and Alejandro Edda as Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman.
What Will Happen in Season 2?
The first season initiated in the 1980s charting Guadalajara drug rise. For that, they established operations with Gallardo (Diego Luna) at the head. In the entire first season, the audience saw Gallardo expanding the drug business with different drug lords and the territories, known as Plazas.
Season 2 will pick up where the first season has left off. It will continue after the death of the US DEA agent Kiki Camarena (Michael Pena). He had been abducted and tortured and finally being murdered. However, his death will serve as a catalyst in the drug war in the second season.
The final moments of Season One also revealed the identity of the narrator of the show. He was Walt Breslin (Scoot McNairy), a DEA agent in charge of Operation Layenda. In that, they will work to bring justice to Kiki’s death by taking down people responsible for his death, including Gallardo.
Narcos Mexico Season 2: Premiere Date
There has not been any update regarding the premiere date for the second season of cartel drama. As season one debuted in December 2018, Narcos Mexico Season 2 would premiere in fall 2019, or by early 2020.
