He also addressed the elephant in the room, the questions about whether or not there will be Ray Donovan season 8. Liev told everyone that its all the network’s decision. He also insisted his fans to reach out to showtime and CBS to tell them how much they want the show. Concluding his post, the actor thanked everyone for the amazing ride no matter what happens next.
Ray Donovan has invested so much of his time-solving everyone’s problems. Sadly, but it seems like all this will end sooner than later. Showtime’s Gary Levine revealed in an interview that the show is “nearing the end of its run.” Levine, Showtime’s co-president, also told that the show’s fate would be decided in a few weeks. The good news among all this news is that he kind of hinted that there shall be Ray Donovan Season 8. Fingers cross Ray Donovan fans! Shameless, a show that parallelly is available on the network received its renewal for season 11. So we can expect that Ray Donovan may get the renewal soon too.
What Happened In Season 7?
Ray Donovan season 7, quite surprisingly ended on an up note. The whole Donovan clan gets together by the end of the season in one home listening Bridget sing. Quite ironically, the song featured in the show was “You’ll Never Walk Alone”. The Elvis Presley version of the melody is featured again in the final montage literally showing every character alone. The show ends in deep melancholy hinting that everything is lost. The finale episode was a very sad episode overall.
The episode also opened gates for the old buried traumas. The season finale was a closure to the Sullivan saga. There was a blackmail attempt on Kevin Sullivan. This attempt opened the doors for Donovan’s past. Through these now open doors, Mickey saw an opportunity to take what he thought Jim Sullivan robbed from him. Not until the finale did Mick realize that Sullivan has taken away more than just the gold coins. The flashbacks in the episode showed that Jim had had sex with Bridget. She later got pregnant and killed herself instead of getting an abortion. Once ray puts the one and one together, he gets furious and shoots Jim in the middle of his forehead.
Later in the episode, The saga od Sullivan ends brutally as well. Throughout the episode, both Smitten and Mickey have talked about forgiveness and how everything shall be all right in the end. Smitty gets back with Bridget and the two talk about moving to Los Angeles. Things, however, don’t go as planned. Mickey and Smitty meet Kevin Sullivan to arrange for the sale of stocks but suddenly Declan Sullivan comes into the picture bearing guns. She was difficult to handle when Daryll and Bunchy jump out of the car and shoot. Smitty and Declan get caught in the crossfire. Smitty bleeds on the street while Mickey runs away with the stock. The show finally ends with Terry standing on the empire state building. Leaving the question of whether he jumps or not.
What Could Happen in Ray Donovan Season 8?
Since the show’s renewal is not yet confirmed, we do not have a lot of information about what could happen on the show’s eighth installment. However, we do think that season 8 might mean to give emotional, mental and physical closure to all the characters. There are a few loose story threads that could be addressed in Ray Donovan Season 8. First is, what happens to Mike. He is the reason for so many painful endings. How will he live with that? Second is Terry who is standing on the empire state building, and last is Ray. What will happen to him? Will he be able to cope with everything?
