Productions Have Started!

Like many other shows, Sex Education Season 3 has started production. Although it had been postponed because of the coronavirus. The show is usually filmed on the longer days of the British summer. But this time, that time was gone. So, to prevent the huge potential delay, the creators decided to resume filming in September 2020. Reports suggest that the team expects the show to complete the production in the February window of 2021.

All the non-UK members of the show had reached the shooting location on August 23 and had to undergo the 14-day quarantine period. The cast members have taken over their social media to share sneak peeks of the filming process with the viewers. These pictures give a glimpse of what could be happening in the new season.

Sex Education Season 3: Won’t Pick Up Where The Second Season Left.

In a recent interview, Asa Butterfield, who plays the character of Otis on the show, revealed that the upcoming Sex Education Season 3 would not pick up where the last season of the series left off. That means that the upcoming third season of the show won’t start from the cliffhanger ending. By the end of the second season, Otis had admitted his feelings on a voicemail to Maeve. However, Isaac deleted that.

Asa says that there is a bit of a time-jump since the second season cliffhanger. Otis will be back in school, but he will have many different things on his plate. He has grown up and become a more sassy version of himself. Asa says that this new thing would be pretty fun to portray. Viewers will like this newfound charisma. However, he asked viewers not to worry. Otis will continue to be tragically awkward too.

Asa reveals that they were snapped by paparazzi when they were filming, and people who saw them freaked out seeing Otis with a mustache. He can exclusively say that the mustache is not real. Butterfield says that it is a stunt, and thankfully, it won’t last the whole season. He says that he does not think anyone can bear looking at that mustache for very long.

The creators have been quite tight-lipped about any specific details on what could come up on Sex Education Season 3. In an interview with Digital Spy, Asa Butterfield says that he is very happy with the first episode. He did not go where he would have anticipated it to be. He added that a few things have changed in the upcoming season, and he is very excited about that.

There are a number of loose ends that could be featured in the upcoming season of the series. Jean ended the second season with a newfound appreciation for the emotional part with her on-and-off partner Jakob. All courtesy of her friendship with Adam’s newly divorced mother, Maureen. On the other hand, many students from the show are accepting and working with their revelations about their identity and their place in the world as they face the realities of sexual assault, non-conventional identities, and what the future holds for them.
