The Crown is one of the most binge-watched shows of Netflix. It’s been almost a year and a half since the release of the second season. The fans are eager for the release of The Crown Season 3. Netflix officially renewed The Crown for its third and fourth season back in January 2018.
The Crown is a historical drama series that portrays the life of Queen Elizabeth throughout her reign. Peter Morgan created the series for Netflix. The Crown debuted on November 4, 2016, with a ten episodes season. And after a year, another season was released on Netflix on December 8, 2017.
The series is set to cover the entire life of Queen Elizabeth, from her younger years to her reign as the Queen. The show will last for 60 episodes, with ten episodes per season. The audience enormously loved the last two seasons and also received many award nominations.

The Crown Season 3: Production Completed

The production work for the upcoming season wrapped up in February 2019. According to reports, the show-runners are filming the third and fourth season of The Crown back to back.
Even before the official announcement of the third and fourth season, the pre-production work for the next season already begun. The filming of the third season started in July 2018. The filming took place in several parts of the world including Spain and Liverpool.

The Crown Season 3: Major Cast Updates

The audience will see new star cast for the third season. It will feature this year’s Oscar award winner Olivia Colman as Her Highness, Queen Elizabeth. For the previous two seasons, Claire Foy portrayed as the Queen. Furthermore, Tobias Menzies (Outlander) also took over Matt Smith as Prince Philip. Helena Bonham replaced Vanessa Kirby as Princess Margaret.

Moreover, some new characters will also feature in the third season. Emerald Fennell will join the cast as Camilla Shand. Camilla was Prince Charles’ second wife. Marion Bailey will play the Queen Mother and Josh O’Connor will play Prince Charles. Back in 2018, Erin Doherty joined the series as Princess Anne and Ben Daniels as Antony Armstrong-Jones, Princess Margret’s husband.

What Will Happen in The Crown Season 3?

Each season of The Crown focuses on the historical events that occurred in the life of Queen Elizabeth. The first season covered her marriage to Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh in 1945 to the breakup of her sister Princess Margaret’s engagement with Group Captain Peter Townsend in 1955. The second season focused from Suez Crisis in 1956 till the birth of Prince Edward in 1964.
The Crown Season 3 will witness some of the significant events of Queen Elizabeth’s life as well as of the history in the 1970s. The third season will continue from 1964 and will look through Harold Wilson’s (Jason Watkins) two periods as the Prime Minister until 1976.

The storyline will also include the Aberfan tragedy, The Space Race, The Queen’s state visit of France in 1972, and even the 1976 Montreal Olympics. Moreover, season 3 will feature the 1966 FIFA World Cup and England’s iconic victory.

When will The Crown Season 3 release?
