However, just after watching the entire season, the fans started googling about its next run, The Crown Season 4. Will the show return for the fourth run? The audience does not need to worry about the return of the next run, as the show is officially renewed for Season 4 by Netflix. Not just this, the filming for the fourth season has also been commenced before the release of the third season. As per the schedule, the filming will wrap up by February 2020.

In some discussions with The Hollywood Reporter lately, Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos revealed that they are planning for at least six seasons. The six seasons of the show will feature the six decades of the Queen’s life. Show writer Peter Morgan also discussed this six seasons news. According to him, “I’d have to see how the show is being received, and I’d have to get some help along the way. The idea is to do the show over six decades, in six seasons presumably. And make the whole show for around eight to ten years.”

Cast Addition In The Crown Season 4

As per the chronology, the upcoming season will feature the time of Margaret Thatcher as the Prime Minister. Gillian Anderson is set to play Thatcher. Also, Season 4 will introduce Princess Diana, played by Emma Corrin. Other than this, the lead cast from the third season will return. That includes Oscar winner Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II, Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip, Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret, Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles, Jane Lapotaire as Princess Alice of Battenberg, Erin Doherty as Princess Anne, Michael Maloney as Edward Heath, and Andrew Buchan as Andrew Parker Bowles.

The Crown Season 4: What Will Happen?

The third season saw the serving time of Prime Minister Harold. However, the upcoming season will focus on Margaret Thatcher as the prime minister. She held the title from 1979 till 1990. Therefore, the show will delve the audience in this span of the royal family. Also, Season 4 will bring in Prince Charles’ (Josh O’Connor) relationship with Diana Spencer. Although, there is no confirmation if it will bring Charles’ divorce with Diana as well. But, the audience might see this side of Charles’ affair with Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall (played by Emerald Fennell).

Adding to this, Season 4 of The Crown will also feature Princess Margret’s lung surgery, which happened in 1985, as per Town & Country. In that surgery, a lung of her had removed because of her addiction to smoking. About this, Helena Bonham Carter, who plays Margaret on the show, discussed in an interview. According to her, “She smoked 60 cigarettes a day with the knowledge that her father died of lung cancer at 54. Margaret had a lung removed, and she carried on smoking. She was a total addict. There was too much of her life that she was allowed to get lost inside her head, and I think that’s the unfortunate thing.”

The Crown Season 4: Release Date
