The Crown showrunner denied the rumored claims of struggling to cast an actor for the Duke of York, Prince Andrew’s role in The Crown Season 5. The fifth season is due to begin its filming, and it’s already facing some issues to cast the Royal members who have a major part in the early 1990s. Well, the series is expected to cover the biggest issues that the Royal Family faced over time. But before, the boss has plenty of things to cover.

Netflix’s historical drama The Crown follows the life of Queen Elizabeth II. It begins with the events that occurred in 1955 when Winston Churchill resigned as Prime Minister. However, as it proceeds, it focused more on the Royal family’s life as Princess Margaret called off her wedding with Peter Townsend while later following the scandal of the Profumo affair.

The fifth season is currently seeking an actor who can play Prince Andrew. As per the reports, the production company behind the series, Left Bank Pictures, recently hyped, which states it’s “a very good role” and looking for an actor who’s in his mid-30s or early 40’s. Soon rumors surfaced that Prince Andrew is an infamous member of the Royal family, and aspiring actors aren’t looking to play his role.

But The Crown’s spokesperson shreds the rumors claiming that they aren’t struggling even it’s a smooth process to cast any role in the show. The spokesperson continued that it’s a standard procedure to hype every role in Spotlight to get a better result. Well, Prince Andrew left his royal duties in 2020, following his interview with Emily Maitlis at BBC Newsnight in November 2019.

Prince Andrew Regrets His Association With Jeffrey Epstein

Well, the interview was marked as excruciating and destructive. It comes as the conclusion from the Palace’s years of statements trying to dispel the rising rumors of Prince Andrew’s relationship with Epstein. But, in the interview, he stated he never regretted his friendship with Epstein. He added it has nothing to do with the people he met in his life. But he quickly clarified that he does “empathetically regret” his association with Epstein.

Sudden Backlashes Leads To Leave The Position

The interview came just after the advocate of justice for sex trafficking Virginia Roberts Giuffre broke the shocking news. She claimed that she was forced to sleep with Prince Andrew three times when she was just 17. But, he always denied the claims and clarified that it never happened. He even said when it was reported he was with her daughter Princess Beatrice at a party at Pizza Express. But these backlashes resulted in him taking back his steps to assist the US. Thus it has been a struggling period for The Crown to cast an actor who can play such a role.

Who Will Join The Series?

Besides his role, the core members of the series have already recast to explore the early 1990s journey. So far, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix actress Imelda Statuton set to appear as Queen Elizabeth II, while Game Of Thrones star Jonathan Pryce will play her husband Prince Philip’s role.

Completing the trio, Phantom Thread actress Lesley Manville is set to play Princess Margaret. Recently, Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki also confirmed to join the team. She will play Princess Diana in the next run. Well, there have been rumors that Dominic West might take the role of Prince Charles. However, it has yet to be confirmed.

The Crown Season 5: When Will Filming Begin?

It won’t take much time to begin filming as the series producer confirmed that production would start in July with the whole new cast. Now the crew would soon head to the north of London into Elstree Studios, where the bulk of the Left Bank-produced shows filmed. However, the UK is still recovering from the brutal impact of the pandemic. So currently, the production team is waiting to ease restrictions that put in January.
