Netflix’s new adult animated series The Midnight Gospel just premiered. Questions about The Midnight Gospel Season 2 are already in the air. This new series is a combination of Pendleton Ward’s animation and Duncan Trussell’s podcast. The series is about Clancy Gilroy’s cosmic story. Gilroy has produced his own inter-dimensional space cast with various interviewees on dying planets.
In the time when animated programs for adults are on a decline, The Midnight Gospel seems to have landed just on time. Other shows such as Big mouth, Rick and Morty and BoJack Horseman, this Ward and Trussell reveal the dark part of the adulthood realities. The animation on the show has successfully started a visual conversation along with the audio on the forefront. There are eight episodes in the first season all have an approximate run-time of 20 minutes. The series covers themes such as substance abuse, death, along with many other themes. Midnight Gospel Season 2 is due for renewal. Netflix has not shared any official news regarding that. We will have to wait for the decision for a few more weeks. The first season of the series just released on April 20. So, most probably, Netflix is still analyzing the viewership. There were many secrets that weren’t revealed even by the end of the first season. So, there is a potential follow up season to come. Midnight Gospel Season 2 might bring all these answers.
What Could Be Coming Ahead?
The first season of Midnight Gospel ended with Clancy starting to question his own existence. He gets on to a bus that is filled with all the people he has met on his adventure. On the bus, he asks one of the many people if he is dead. And this is how the season ends. Honestly, Trussell and Ward left the instalment with a very big cliffhanger. This left all the viewers questioning whether space-caster is dead or not. While fans knew that death was essential for the series, nobody had thought that one of the main characters would die.
Keeping in mind the ending of the first season Midnight Gospel Season 2 shall explore and reflect more on death. Much more than what was explored in the first season. Other topics like reincarnation, afterlife can be included. However, it is all dependent on how the creators want to show and leave Clancy Gilroy. Maybe they’d amplify the existentialism? Fans will not get to know any solid detail until Netflix Netflix renews the show.

Even if Netflix decides to order Midnight Gospel season 2, we might not get to see it until 2021. It is possible that the show might even get postponed because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. When the production team was creating the first season of Midnight Gospel, they had faced many vocal difficulties. They also faced problems with the animation to bring out the podcast just the way it was.
