Henry Cavil starrer live-action television series, The Witcher is up for the debut in the coming month. The show is one of the most anticipated upcoming runs of Netflix. However, the streaming service went much ahead and renewed the show for its second season, prior to the premiere of Season 1. The Witcher Season 2 will be the forthcoming season of the series.

Showrunner On Renewal For The Witcher Season 2

The creator and showrunner of the series, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, shared her enthusiasm for receiving a renewal for the second season. On Twitter, Hissrich added that she and the entire team of The Witcher are so much excited about having another season. She also praised the cast involved in the show that will continue for more.

The Witcher Season 2: Who Will Return?

The first season of The Witcher will see Henry Cavill as the titular character, Geralt of Rivia. Along with him, Freya Allan will feature as Princess Ciri. Anya Chalotra as the sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg. Jodhi May as Ciri’s grandmother, Queen Calanthe. Björn Hlynur Haraldsson as Calanthe’s husband King Eist. MyAnna Buring as Tissaia de Vries. Mimi Ndiweni as Fringilla Vigo. As confirmed by creator Hissrich herself, Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, and Anya Chalotra will return for the second season as well.

However, at the time of renewal, Netflix announced that the additional cast members and season 2 directors would be announced soon. Also, Hissrich, Tomek Baginski, Jason Brown, Sean Daniel, Mike Ostrowski, and Steve Gaub will again serve as the executive producers on The Witcher season 2.

The Witcher is a live-action series adapted from Andrzej Sapkowski’s novella series. The book series consists of eight novels: 1993’s The Last Wish, 1992’s Sword of Destiny, 1994’s Blood of Elves, 1995’s Time of Contempt, 1996’s Baptism of Fire, 1997’s The Tower of the Swallow, 1999’s The Lady of the Lake, and 2013’s Season of Storms.

Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, strives to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny pushes him toward a powerful sorceress and a young princess with a fatal secret, the three learns to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together. The second season will also continue the same journey of the trio.

The debut season of The Witcher will be out on December 20, 2019. Also, news arrived that the production for the second season will begin in early 2020 in London. Therefore, the fans need to wait quite a lot for the second season to arrive. The Witcher Season 2 is slated to be out in 2021.
