Hargreeves’ clan is ready to battle the evils around them. Netflix picked up Umbrella Academy Season 2 as they saw potential in the series. A television adaptation of a hit comic book series was bound to have a compelling storyline. The critics lauded the cast and visuals of the show heavily. It unwinds an original story with hidden emotions, which creates drama. But the series’ dark perception often clashes with its science-fiction genre.
The plot revolves around a billionaire, Sir Reginald Hargreeves and his dysfunctional family of adopted superheroes. He adopts seven children with unique superpowers and names them as numbers. Many years after getting separated, the siblings reunite at their father’s funeral. One of the siblings returns from the future and warns everyone of an impending apocalypse. The season finale showed that the academy is unable to stop the apocalypse and destruction dawning all around. The team then decides to go back in time to stop it. So in Season 2, the fans will experience the siblings engaging in damage control.
Umbrella Academy Season 2: Junior Ben Has Arrived
As Umbrella Academy Season 2 will begin with all the siblings as teenagers, we would be able to see the younger versions. When shooting for Season 2 started, it was not clear whether Ben’s actor Justin would be returning. However, things became more evident when he began posting pictures on his social media accounts. And most recently, Justin posted a picture of him alongside one of his colleagues, Ethan Hwang, who plays a young Ben. All his fans on Instagram flooded his post through their comments. They called them ‘The Bens’ and started praising the duo.
With the addition of young Ben in the upcoming season, it would be reasonable to probe the truth behind his death. And the time-travel to the past may even let the team save Ben from his demise. As Ben saved the day in the season finale, it would make sense for the team to help him out as best they can. But it would all depend on how much of the plot will center on Ben’s backstory?
Umbrella Academy Season 2: Production Has Begun
Gerard Way shared two photos on his Instagram for Umbrella Academy Season 2. Way’s photo gives a sign indicating the initial script reading for actors is in preparation for the new season. He provided very little detail, but he’s drumming up hype around the series. Some details about the next season have already surfaced. The crew began scouting locations back in March, with residential properties, farms, and farmhouses all on the list. Steve Blackman, the showrunner, too shared a photo of the first slate from Season 2. It meant that filming is already underway. So we the fans can expect the premiere announcement to arrive soon.

Umbrella Academy Season 2: Release Date
Netflix has not yet set the premiere date for Umbrella Academy Season 2. But it will soon announce the same. The new season will consist of 10 episodes. For the first season, it took seven months from the end of production to premiere the show. Therefore, if the same applies to Season 2, then the premiere would likely be around April 2020.
