Days of Our Lives fans who have been keeping up with the soap recently saw their favorite on-again/off-again priest back on screen. Yes, we are talking about Eric Brady, played by Greg Vaughan. Eric recently came back to Salem and helped his mother, Marlena escaping the clutches of the Devil. He came back as a priest who led the whole exorcism storyline and brought Marlena back in her real form. However, it looks like he is out again, even before everyone could blink. He was in for a short visit. But does that mean that Greg has left? It doesn’t look like so. Here is why we say that.
Vaughan recently sat in an interview with Soap Opera Digest, where he talked about his character Eric and how he has grown. The way he spoke about it, it looked like he was talking about a longer stint. In the conversation, Vaughan says that he is revisiting his character of Eric and putting his training wheels back on. He points out that Eric has matured a lot after the whole Nicole fallout. He thinks that since he has grown so much, this time when he comes back, he will come in to make amends.
While amending point towards how Eric met with Nicole and they were both courteous with each other, the growth part in his statement needed a longer stint. Viewers did not really get to see that part. So, that could be a hint that he has Eric might return sooner than later. Later on in the interview, Vaughan also says that he wants to “take a new road”. He even mentioned how he was very curious about this new approach and wanted to see how to navigate these new waters.
Recently, Greg Vaughan came back as Eric. So, that was a familiar road. Of course, Eric had turned into a priest, and that could be what he meant by a new door. But then the actor said that he thought that he closed a door and left it behind him. Now, he sees the purpose and the reason. The actor continued to say that it was fun, and it helped him restart the story.
So, we can’t help but wonder, what story is the restarting? At this moment, an Eric-Nicole reunion would make sense, but that will need a lot of work. They will have to fight priesthood again. So, that is a possibility. But, another shocking angle is the Kristen angle.
The Devil came to Eric as Nicole during the whole exorcism thing. When this happened, there was a lot of temptation and attraction there. So, what would happen if Nicole and Eric came back together only for Eric to realize that he still has feelings for Kristen?
Kristen is still out there somewhere. So, it is possible that Eric’s priesthood will help him forgive Kristen, and that would start the story of Kristen’s redemption. Whatever the case might be, it doesn’t look like Eric is out just yet. Days of Our Lives is indeed bringing some very interesting storylines. So, make sure you tune in and enjoy.
