Netflix adds new faces to the cast of The Umbrella Academy Season 2. The actors will soon begin shooting for the brand-new installment. Since the February 2019 premiere, fans have been waiting for months now. However, they may need to have a lot more patience as S2 is not returning anytime soon. Based on Gerard Way’s comic book series, The Umbrella Academy puts up a unique storyline for Netflix subscribers. The first installment turned out to be a hit and fans gave mostly positive reviews. Besides, the superhero drama worked well with the critics as well. With its debut in February 2019, the show wooed in millions of viewers that are now waiting for Season 2 to hit the screens.

The story of the show revolves around seven adopted children that possess superpowers. An eccentric billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreeves raises them to form a superhero team called The Umbrella Academy. However, with a lot of twists and turns emerging their way, the kids grow up to make a dysfunctional family. Things lead them to travel back in time in order to stop an upcoming apocalypse.

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 is officially greenlit and will be back with much more thrill and drama this time. The series performed really well with the audience. Hence, Netflix announced the renewal soon after its debut. The streamer declared the news through social media posts.
The cast and crew of the series were soon called in for the script reading session. It began in May 2019 and the filming started by mid-June. Most of the actors shared their delight to be back. Moreover, some uploaded pictures from the first day of shoot. The production may continue for a few more months from now.

The finale of the debut season was extremely bizarre. Towards the end, Vanya’s age destroyed the entire world, and everything went up in flames. Luckily, Number Five manages to save his siblings using his time-traveling powers. The superheroes plan to travel back in time in order to change things that caused the apocalypse in the first place. The story of The Umbrella Academy Season 2 may put its primary focus on Vanya this time.

New Cast Additions!

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 will now expand its already-huge cast. Besides the seven superheroes and their younger selves, the second season will welcome a few new characters. Three talented actors will be joining the upcoming installment. This includes Marin Ireland, Yusuf Gatewood, and Ritu Arya.
American actress Marin Ireland is newly cast to play Sissy, a fearless, no-nonsense Texas mom. The character married young for all the wrong reasons. Ireland is popular of her role on Amazon Prime’s Sneaky Pete. Moreover, she will soon star in the upcoming FX series “Y” as well.

Good Omens fame Yusuf Gatewood is called in to play Raymond. Details describe him as a born leader, with smarts and gravitas. He also has the confidence to never have to prove it to anyone. Moreover, the character is warm, dedicated, and has the innate ability to disarm you with a look. Lastly, actress Ritu Arya is joining the cast of the second season as Lila. Arya is best known for her performance in AMC’s Humans. Her character Lila is a chameleon who is brilliant, yet clinically insane at required situations.

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 Release Date

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 is yet to have an official release date. Moreover, the series is still under production as of now. Hence, it may possibly take a while to hit the screens. However, chances suggest that it may return by the same time as before. Fans can expect the second installment to be at their screens by February 2020.
