Back in February, Katie Thurston revealed that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 34. Katie discovered the lump in late November 2024, but she did not disclose it until February 2025. She posted the sad news on her Instagram account, writing that she had felt a lump in her breast. Later, when the lump did not go away, she visited a doctor for a mammogram. The doctors then asked her to get a biopsy, as the mammogram indicated the presence of cancerous tissue.

By the end of February, she revealed that her cancer hadn’t metastasized. In March, she married her husband, Jeff Arcuri. She also started fertility treatment after moving to NYC. She decided to freeze her eggs before chemotherapy. Later, she confirmed that the doctors had found multiple cancerous spots in her liver. In July, after three months of treatment, Katie revealed that her cancer had progressed to stage four. Since then, she hasn’t lost hope and has continued her treatment.

Bachelor Nation alum Katie Thurston is all set for her upcoming scan. In an interview, she said that, considering everything, she is doing well. The reality TV star appeared at the Pink Agenda’s 18th annual New York City Gala on October 9. “I actually get my six-month scan on Monday, so I feel very optimistic about it,” she told E!

Thurston further revealed that she has learned so much because of her cancer journey. She also added that she really admires her husband, Jeff, whom she married in March. The 34-year-old said that no one can face cancer alone. She added that one really has to rely on their family and friends. Katie said, “And to have someone who’s your partner, who’s right there with you every step of the way? It’s meant everything.”

Katie also admitted that after she was diagnosed with cancer, she started to see the world through a different lens. She shared that she realized no one really knows what someone else is going through. Thurston also explained that she has become more patient with strangers. “If someone is driving too slow or grumpy, you don’t know what they’re going through in their own life,” she added. Katie said that she feels she is kinder.

The reality TV star is also trying to be a voice for the community. The Pink Agenda’s gala raised $340,000 for breast cancer research and care. It seems that the Bachelorette alum still follows the show. She said that she would like the show to choose Taylor, Frankie, or Paul as its next lead. “I want them to pick only the best of the best for her,” Katie added.
