Recently released anime, Mob Psycho 100 has gathered much fan following and was highly appreciated. It seems like the fans might not have to wait long for the “Mob Psycho 100 Season 2” as the studio responsible for the anime announced that they have plans to push forward with the project. The announcement was made by the Bones Studio at the screening of their production ‘Cowboy Bebop: Knocking on Heaven’s Door’.
Mob Psycho 100 is a story of a young boy named Shigeo who is nicknamed Mob due to his dull senses and lack of presence. Mob translates in English to ‘background character’. But in fact, he is an ‘Esper’, who possess extra sensory perception. As he grows older he realizes that his abilities can be dangerous for other, he resists them in order to not let them get out of control. Despite wanting a normal life, he is not able to live one and is forced to go through a lot of anxiety because of it.
Possibilities for the Mob Psycho 100 Season 2
The webcomic of the anime is developed by the ONE, he is the one responsible for the legendary works such as ‘One Punch Man’. It was cast out a possibility that in future ONE may create a comic crossover event between Mob Psycho 100 and the One Punch Man. When the creator of the manga, ONE was asked about his views on the “Mob Psycho 100 Season 2” and his manga, he said, “It is a fresh take on the manga. I would not be missing an episode, and I am looking forward to following the anime with all of you. I wanted the manga to feel kind and explore connections between people and the story happened to include super powers. But it turned out to be an action manga.”
He further said that he is not working anymore on the Mob Psycho manga and maybe he is done with it. But still, the manga has 96 chapters out of which only 50 have been incorporated into the story for Mob Psycho 100 Season 2. Therefore it leaves a lot of source content for Bones to pull out Mob Psycho 100 Season 2. But sadly, it also puts away the possibility of anime crossover.
The director of the anime, Yuzuru Tachikawa confirmed that he will return for the “Mob Psycho 100 Season 2”. He also revealed that he wants to keep the anime as much faith to the source material from the manga as much possible. He said, “At first we were thinking about adapting the manga with a few new ideas to be involved in the anime but then we realized that how we would be making a big mistake if we did that.”
Other than this there were no announcements about the release of “Mob Psycho 100” Season 2 or any hints left by the director or by the Bones studio about it.
