Nisekoi Season 3: Anime Sequal to Release After Live-Action Film in 2019?

Nisekoi anime television series is based on the manga of the same name written by Naoshi Komi. The English version of the manga was first published in December 2011. Nisekoi: “False Love” is an anime series about a fake relationship, the first season was aired between January 11 and May 24, 2014. The series earned good ratings and Nisekoi season 2 was aired between  April 10 and June 26, 2015. The anime was premiered on Tokyo MX, GTV, GYT in Japan and was later licensed by Aniplex of America for broadcast in the territory of North America. And fans are eagerly waiting for Nisekoi Season 3.

Updated on 01/01/2019: A Japanese live-action film adaptation of Nisekoi: False Love was released on December 21, 2018. The film is directed by Hayato Kawai and is based on the manga series. This is a piece of good news for the fans as Nisekoi Season 3 could be the next project by the production studio. It is reported the live-action film is performing well in Japan with the release across 294 theaters.


Updated on 13/04/2018: The Shaft studio has produced 3 new anime since the release of the second season of Nisekoi which released back in 2015. The studio has finished the airing of Fate/Extra Last Encore on 1st April 2018 and fans can hope that Shaft may come up with Nisekoi Season 3 as it is still one of the most successful project for the studio.


Many speculations were made about the release of Nisekoi Season 3, several websites claimed that the third season will be premiered in 2016. However, there is still no official statement about the new season. The manga has a total of 25 volumes which contains 229 chapters, which means the creators have enough content to pull out the story for another season.

Story and Plot of Nisekoi Anime Series

The anime story revolves around a high school student, Raku Ichijo, who is a son of Yakuza boss Shuei-Gumi, Raku is a shy and hesitant young man.Series’ female lead is Chitoge Kirisaki who is a daughter of the leader of Beehive (a rival syndicate), Chitoge is a confident and strong young woman.
The two accidently meet each other at the high school and they become friends, they soon realize that they are the kids of two rival gangs and their relationship may not be good. The series also had another female lead named Kosaki Onodera, she is Raku’s beloved best friend since childhood. The series has a complicated love story filled with twists and turns which make the series more entertaining for viewers.

Will there be Nisekoi Season 3?

The series’ story hasn’t finished yet and has many questions to answer. This is the most believable reason of making another season of the series. Moreover, many speculations were made about the possible release date of Nisekoi Season 3 which turned out to be false. Unfortunately, there is no official announcement yet and now fans have started accepting the fact that there will be no new season.

The first season of Nisekoi had 20 episodes and earned good ratings throughout the season and creators made no delay in producing the second season. However, the season 2 doesn’t go as the previous season and it was concluded with just 12 episodes which were very less as compared to the first season.
There are various speculations about Nisekoi season 3 on the internet which says, Ichigo will finally confess his feelings for Kirisaki as a large number of viewers want to see more of a love story between the two lead characters. Moreover, some other speculations say in upcoming season we will see Yui-nee’s comeback and her confession which will bring a new twist to the storyline.

Meanwhile, the creators have not said anything about the cancellation of Nisekoi Season 3 and fans can still hope for a third season which may be premiered in the near future.
