It’s good news for all the Dragon Prince fans this year. At the virtual Comic-Con 2020 panel, the co-creator of Dragon Prince, Aaron Ehasz, made the most optimistic announcement of the year. He revealed that Netflix has officially renewed the series for its “entire saga.”
For those of you who are unaware of the concept of the saga, it refers to a planned seven-season arc. Yes, Netflix has decided to go in for a seven-season project this time. The showrunners Ehasz and Justin Richmond also mentioned that Dragon Prince Season 4 would be named “Earth.” The new chapter will inaugurate two other seasons of the saga titled “The Dragon Prince: Name Withheld.”
After this announcement, fans went crazy over social media. They started trending the hashtag #giveusthesaga. For now, the saga is still going through the production process, and the Dragon Prince Season 4 is next in line for this saga. Once the fourth installment is completed, there might not be such long gaps between the upcoming seasons.

After the announcement of the saga in Comic-con, the makers of the show went underground. No news of a release date was ever heard since then. Later, in February 2021, an official blog post was published on Dragonprince.com. The post talked about the hardships of working during a pandemic. “We’re writing the story and scripts, assembling the production team, and developing other new, exciting areas of Xadia for you to explore,” the post read.
It was also mentioned that the makers, for now, would not be able to give a solid release date for a fourth season. Assuming that the showrunners started working on the project at the time of the comic-con announcement, it looks like the production might be completed by now. If that’s the case, The Dragon Prince Season 4 will likely release by the end of 2021.
