Mamma Mia 3: Cast Teasing The Sequel May Happening Soon, What Will Happen?

Nearly after a decade, the sequel of Mamma Mia came out last year and revived the memories of 2008’s classic musical. The movie was an incredible combination of the unique plot, along with ABBA’s great music. Recently, there have been whispers started drooping about Mamma Mia 3. Though there has not been any confirmation from Universal Pictures yet.
Mamma Mia is a jukebox musical romantic movie series, based on the 1999 musical of the same name. The musical is itself based on the songs of the pop group ABBA. The movie follows a young will-be-bride Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) who invites three men to her wedding. Here, each one is with the possibility of being her father.
The movie was an international collaboration between Germany, the United Kingdom, and The United States. The film debuted in 2008 followed by the sequel after a decade, in 2018. The movie received mixed reviews from the audience and critics. The movie got praises for its production and musicals, however, got criticized for the plot and casting of inexperienced singers, in particular, Pierce Brosnan and Stellan Skarsgård.

Lily James Ignited Rumors About Mamma Mia 3

The star of the film, Lilly James, flashed the rumors about the next movie of the series. She teased her fans with some Instagram posts, indicating towards Mamma Mia 3. Lily portrayed the young Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia 2: Here We Go Again.
She posted a picture of herself, enjoying on the Island of Vis, Croatia, which was the filming location for the sequel movie. The post is captioned as “I’m going in.”

Other posts of her also indicated about the third movie, having a series of ABBA show tunes on her Instagram story.

Another star, Christine Baranski (feature as Tanya) also expressed her views about the next Mamma Mia movie. She stated that they are ready for the upcoming sequel because it is just so much fun to do.
Lily James also talked about the next movie in an interview with RadioTimes. She also mocked about the would-be title for the third movie as, “We laughed that it could be ‘Mamma Mia! The DNA Test’. You finally find out who the dad is.”

Stellan Skarsgard, who plays Bill/Kurt in the series, also revealed that he would be absolutely up for Mamma Mia 3. He stated, “I wouldn’t have to read the script. If they call, I’ll come. He also added that “It was ten years between the two [Mamma Mia films], so I will probably appear in an urn in the next one.”
However, he put up one condition to re-join. Stellan wanted his character to be still alive.

What Could Possibly Happen In The Sequel?

The main objective of the movie has not been reached even after the two films. The audience does not know who is Sophie’s father among the three, Sam (Pierce Brosnan), Harry (Colin Firth) or Bill (Stellan Skarsgard). So, the third movie would likely feature some scenario where all of them become close to knowing the truth.
However, Skarsgard stated in an interview that he is quite worried that people behind the film might not have enough materials and right songs to do Mamma Mia 3. As he stated, “Can they come up with a story which doesn’t have to be that plausible, but plausible enough?”
The audience is eagerly waiting for Mamma Mia 3 to renew soon and come back on the big screens.
