Tammy followed strict rules given to her by her doctors, including increasing her protein intake and avoiding nicotine. Viewers loved how she maintained her routine for several months. Tammy Slaton opened up about her new girlfriend, Andrea Dalton, exclusively in Season 7 of 1000 Lb Sisters. While she was nervous about sharing the news with her siblings, she got a positive response from them about dating a female. Neither Misty nor Amanda had any problem with it. In fact, they thought that their sister would never mean to be with a man but a woman.
Since Andrea couldn’t come to see Tammy in the hospital due to her work, she sent her some lovely flowers. Her gesture showed that she cares about the reality star as much as her family. During their first date, the couple went public with their bowling competition. In the confessional, Tammy admitted that she is extra cautious this time because of her past.

The day after the surgery, Tammy Slaton woke up looking fabulous. Dr. Rubin asked her to feel both of her arms without excess skin. She smiled at not having bat wings. Then, he lent her a mirror to see herself for the first time post-surgery. As the medical staff took off her bandages, she appeared so different.
Though Tammy’s face had swelling, Dr. Rubin reminded her it would go down slowly. Later, she went to her first-ever confessional after surgery to share that she felt weird. She emotionally said that she realized that she doesn’t have “hanging balls**k” either on her face. Hence, the TLC star let everyone know that it will take her a while to get used to watching herself like that.
Following Tammy’s discharge from her hospital bed, she returned to her Kentucky home to witness her family with flowers and balloons. Each one of them reacted to her new appearance. Amy started looking at her big sister, saying she looked good and that the difference was noticeable. Misty agreed and said it’s great.
Misty recalled the times when Tammy weighed 730 pounds and couldn’t stand or walk around without support. Now that she has dropped 500 pounds, it’s unbelievable, yet she is proud of her milestone.
