90 Day Fiance viewers are well aware of the bond that Geoffrey Paschel and Varya Malina shared. They got engaged and were planning to walk down the aisle. However, Malina didn’t leave Geoffrey even after he went behind bars. Several sources have claimed that Paschel and Malina were still engaged, and that the latter often visits her fiance behind bars.
In a YouTube video from 2025, Malina revealed that she and Geoffrey used to make plans for their future. She said, “I’m pretty sure these plans will come true sooner than you think they will.” Moreover, she still lives in Paschel’s Tennessee home. Fans are well aware of how Malina came to America and became an American resident back in 2021.
Longtime 90 Day Fiance viewers are well aware of how Geoffrey Paschel first applied to appeal in September 2023. That appeal was denied straight away. However, things haven’t gone downhill, and his legal team missed the deadline to file the verified petition. This is why he is now putting all the blame on his attorney, Richard Lee Gaines.
Geoffrey didn’t waste time, and he ended up filing a complaint against his attorney. He did this with the Consumer Assistance Program. Geoffrey’s complaint came in February 2026. He accused his legal team of “malpractice, deceit, and fraud.” The celeb even presented all the conversations he had with his attorney, Varya, and Geoffrey’s mother.
The transcripts featured Geoffrey talking about the filing date. But his attorney assured him that everything was under their control. However, his appeal was dismissed just because of a lack of verification. But when it comes to his attorney, he never really told this fact to Geoffrey, Varya, or his mother.
Geoffrey’s attorney noted in the reply to his complaint, “In no way did I foresee that this petition would be dismissed purely on a technical issue.” He tried to explain why he kept him in the dark. But when it comes to Geoffrey, he stated, “After securing the $50,000 fee to serve as lead counsel, Mr. Gaines committed catastrophic malpractice.” He further claimed that he paid an additional $25,000. Hence, he ended up paying Richard $75,000.
Geoffrey paid a hefty fee only to realize the court had dismissed his appeal because his legal team hadn’t filed it on time. Viewers are now wondering whether he will file a third appeal.
