90 Day Fiance and TLC might be stepping into territory that’s making even its most loyal viewers uneasy. The Last Resort Season 3 is about to hit the screens, and it clearly has a lot to offer. But viewers were quick to notice some shocking scenes that had BDSM-themed conversations and situations. This convinced them that such instances couldn’t really be organic, and critics wondered whether such things were desperately put up just to get those high TRP rankings.
Fans even accused TLC of crossing a line by steering couples into intimate scenes that feel more performative than organic. Is this true? What did viewers notice? Did TLC really push couples into BDSM for ratings? Keep on reading to learn more about this controversy because the tea is really hot.
90 Day Fiance: The Last Resort is back again, and this time it is breaking its conventional ways. TLC cameras rolled at the historic Thornbury Castle, which was once owned by King Henry VIII and his wife, Anne Boleyn, in England. Yes, no more tropical backdrops, as this season is entirely filmed in a massive castle in England. Famous couples like Rebecca and Zied, Sarper and Shekinah, and Sumit and Jenny are joining this season.
Fans will even witness Kara Bass and Guillermo, Patrick and Thais, and Russ and Paola’s falling marriages. Hence, there will be a lot of drama, confrontation, and chaos. Well, viewers won’t have to wait much longer, as Season 3 is set to premiere on TLC on Monday, June 1, at 8 p.m. ET.
90 Day Fiance: The Last Resort Season 3’s therapists have already made it clear they will use “non-traditional exercises” and “intensive therapy” to address the issues of these six couples. There would be group therapies and one-on-one sessions as well. But this doesn’t mean that BDSM could have been a great way to make someone love their partner again and stop them from divorcing each other!

But it seems that the therapists surely thought that way, as viewers would witness Kara and Guillermo in such a moment. They were in what appeared to be a BDSM (Bondage, Discipline, Dominance, Submission, Sadism, Masochism) moment. Guillermo was in a dominant role, while Kara seemed submissive as she surrendered to her husband.
Guillermo firmly held Kara and said, “You will respect me.” He further wanted an assurance and asked, “Understood?” The scene even featured a woman dressed in a red outfit who was guiding this so-called BDSM moment! This itself made it clear that Kara and Guillermo weren’t doing all of this just because they were fond of such things. But they were “guided” in perhaps a therapy session to explore this way as well.
Critics were quick to note that all of this actually appeared to be staged and the franchise’s way of getting more TRP. What do you think? Do let us know in the comments section. Keep coming back to TV Season & Spoilers for more updates.
