Anna’s daughters have been separated after her death. Her older one, Kaitlyn, is currently living with Mama June, while her younger one, Kylee, is with her biological father, Michael. But it seems that the latter isn’t really satisfied with this arrangement.
Recently, Michael decided to drag Shannon to court as he now wants to take sole custody of Kaitlyn as well. He is doing everything under the sun to take the star kid with him and raise her. What is Michael up to now? On what basis is he filing for Kaitlyn’s custody?
Mama June: Michael Drags Shannon In Court For Kaitlyn’s Custody
Mama June and her family decided that Kaitlyn would live with her because she was really comfortable with the former. Hence, it would be easy for her to deal with her mother’s day. However, Anna’s ex-husband, Michael, is now determined to get sole custody of Kaitlyn as well.
Michael has filed for Kaitlyn’s custody in a Georgia court. As per documents, the former has claimed that he has played a “permanent, unequivocal, committed, and responsible parental role” in the star kid’s life all throughout her life. Anna’s ex-husband claimed that he has been a part of the “caretaking” process even after his divorce.
Recently, TheSun revealed Michael claims to have a “bonded and dependent relationship” with Kaitlyn. He stated that when he parted ways with Anna, his regular visitation schedules included both Kaitlyn and Kylee. Hence, Michael told the court that he has an independent relationship with the noted kid, and her mother was also comfortable with that.
The documents stated, “Both petitioner and parent understood, acknowledged, accepted and behaved.” It continued, “though the petitioner is a parent of the child and accepted full and permanent responsibilities as a parent of the child.” Michael further made it clear that it would be “without expectation of financial compensation.”
Mama June: Michael Exposed Anna’s Estranged Relationship With Shannon
Michael stated some valid points as to why Mama June shouldn’t have Kaitlyn’s custody. He noted that Anna has had a “very sordid relationship” with her mother for most of her life. He also highlights how his ex-wife had various periods where she went without speaking to Shannon.
Michael even claimed in the documents, “Likewise, June’s presence in the minor child’s life has been inconsistent.” Not only this, but he even stated that till now, he is the one who has been paying for Kaitlyn’s schooling! He pointed out how Shannon hadn’t been a part of Anna’s life for a significant period of time.
Michael believes that he is the only person alive who has been a part of his child’s life for the longest. Apparently, this came after fans also opposed Shannon’s decision to take custody of Kaitlyn.
Hence, Michael believes that giving him the sole custody of Kaitlyn would be the best for her. Fans felt that there were some valid points in his petition.
