Baylen built her platform by simply showing up as herself – tics and all. What started as TikToks landed her a reality show on TLC and now inspires people with Tourette’s.

Now, she is a voice for people with Tourette’s everywhere. She outgrew all the judgments and cynicisms and focussed on herself. But long before the show and the spotlight, there was a 2022 Dr. Phil interview that is making the rounds again. Baylen Out Loud: Baylen’s Unique French Tic, And What It Means

Baylen Dupree-Dooley recently talked about one of her most famous Tourette’s tics in a TLC post. The Baylen Out Loud star explained her French tic, where she says, “Je m’appelle puta oui croissant.” It’s my name [is] whore yes, croissant.” Baylen admitted the phrase makes no sense, but that is common with Tourette’s syndrome. Fans already know some of her other tics, too, like yelling “Colin!” or doing her “wind it up” hand gesture.

Baylen continues to use her platform to educate people about Tourette’s and involuntary tics. She also supported actor David Johnson after he had a public tic at the BAFTA Awards. Baylen explained that slurs and random words do not show what a person truly believes. Through her TLC show and social media, Baylen wants people to better understand Tourette’s and stop taking offense so easily, as tics are involuntary and are definitely not meant maliciously.

Baylen Dupree appeared on Dr. Phil in March 2022 for an episode titled “My Tourette’s Made Me Viral.” Right from the start, she was excited and open. She said she was there to show people how she actually lives every day. Midway through the interview, her tic fired off – “Oh! You’re bald.” The audience burst out laughing. Dr. Phil just played it cool and responded to the tic, saying, “I noticed that last week.” He then kept the conversation going as if nothing had happened.

Baylen, accompanied by her parents, Julie and Allen, also shared the laughter. Allen added that she calls him bald every day. The 2022 interview also showed a much sadder side of Baylen’s struggles with Tourette’s. Dr. Phil asked her about what made her go public with her syndrome. Baylen wanted to stop hiding because of her condition and help people with Tourette’s feel like they don’t have to hide either. She also told him people had even said she’d “be a lot prettier if she weren’t crazy.” Fans are glad that the younger Baylen did not let words hurt her and grew up to be the confident person she is now.

Despite the endless trolling she faced while she was young, she still campaigns for a better understanding of the syndrome. Her social media posts, leaving out the troll comments, always have massive support from other people with Tourette’s.
