Despite facing plenty of delays, Call The Midwife Season 10 is set to return this spring, with Trixie Franklin facing some serious alcoholism issues. Trixie star Helen George has recently teased that she might take a leave from the show for a while. Hopefully, it won’t last long as the one that happened in the past season as the creator ensured their plans for Call The Midwife Season 10.
Initially, Jennifer Worth’s memoirs inspired Call The Midwife. It followed her journey in the 50s. However, after the departure of Jenny Lee (Jessica Raine), the role based on Worth the show separated its ways from its source material. But soon, it came up with some actual and impactful historical events, including crises those families faced in London’s East End.
Call The Midwife Season 10: When It Will Release?
BBC has finally announced that Call The Midwife Season 10 will air this week. The news came last Wednesday, where the network shared a poster of the show confirming it will return just in a few days. Call The Midwife Season 10 will release on Sunday, April 18, at 8 pm only on BBC. Generally, the new season lands in January, but the pandemic has delayed the production, causing the tenth season to air this spring.
BBC Teased The Future Of The Show
BBC had already renewed the show for its eleventh run back in 2019. However, recently the network declared that the show would continue till 2024, as it renewed seasons 13 and 14 ahead of the tenth season premiere. They both will consist of eight 60-minute long episodes along with a Christmas special. Soon the creator, Heidi Thomas, said that they are thrilled to “be going on for a few more years!”
Call The Midwife Season 10: Who Will Be In The Cast?
Since the show aired, many cast members joined, and some did leave the show. However, we know that the three main cast members will indeed return. As they have already confirmed their appearance in the tenth season. These include Laura Main as Shelagh Turner, Leonie Elliot as Lucille Anderson (the first main BIPOC character), and Jenny Agutter as Sister Julienne. Even Coronation Street actress Paula Lane would join the show.
However, some fans’ favorite actress won’t return this season. These include Nurse Val Dyer star Jennifer Kirby, who departed the show when delayed due to the ongoing pandemic. As well as Sister Mildred star Miriam Margolyes, who played a massive part since 2018 couldn’t return due to travel restrictions. But Helen George’s faith is still up in the air.
Call The Midwife Season 10: What Will Happen Next?
Heidi earlier teased that the upcoming season would explore the issues of 1966. So this season, they would work in all aspects to make everything align for the modern ages. Even Helen explained that the nurses would be working at Lady Emily Clinic, a private birthing clinic to save the Nonnatus House. Meanwhile, Sister Hilda will campaign to modernize the nuns- including knee-length skirts.
Trixie Will Suffer From Alcoholism
In a recent interview, Helen shared that Trixie’s habit of drinking will return. Although she thought it’s gone now but the upcoming season and complication would bring this habit back. Helen continued that it’s a constant battle which she has been suffering all alone. However, Hilda confirmed that they had mapped the story arc to deal with this issue, leaving fans in awe.
