City on a Hill Season 2: What’s The Renewal Status
Thankfully Yes! City on a Hill Season 2 is renewed. In fact, the show had received renewal even before the first season concluded. The announcement was made at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour. Created and produced by Chuck MacLean along with Tom Fontana, who served as the showrunner. The first season of the series had an average viewership of about 3.5 million per episode.
While renewing the show, Gary Levine, the co-president of entertainment, says that City on Hill is an addictive kind of a meaty and messy show that they love at Showtime. He says that with the pairing of Kevin Bacon and Aldis Hodge, along with the inspired writing from Tom Fontana and Chuck MacLean, they believe that the future of the series is quite rich.
Who Is In The Cast?
We can expect to see the whole main cast of the first season to reprise their roles in City on a Hill Season 2. That means that we can expect Bacon to come back as the corrupt FBI agent Jackie Rohr. Viewers can also expect to see Aldis Hodge as he comes back as the district attorney Decourcy Ward. Joining them will be Jonathan Tucker as he reprises his role as Frankie Ryan. Mark O’Brien and Amanda Clayton are expected to come back as Jimmy Ryan and Cathy Ryan, respectively.
Not just them, reports reveal that some big names from the recurring cast of the first season might come back. These names include Rory Culkin as Clay Roach, Michaela McManus as the FBI Agent Sarah Rodes. Cathy Moriarty will join them as Ma Ryan. Reports say that Matthew Del Nergo is now a series regular. Leon from Temptations is also coming back for his recurring role.
Do We Know a Release Date?
We do not have an exact release date for City on a Hill Season 2. The first season of the show released in June 2019. So, while we had expected that the second season would also release around the same time, it does not looks like that will happen. The coronavirus pandemic has affected everything. While a number of productions are getting back to productions, we do not have any news on whether or not this show has started productions for the upcoming season 2.
