In the upcoming episodes of Coronation Street, Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) is going get herself into trouble. Poor Amy still has not gone over the trauma of rape. Her hatred towards men is making things harder for her. This time, it’s legal trouble. While heading for an anti-spiking protest, she finds herself getting in an argument with a police officer and ends up getting arrested.
Coronation Street: Amy Gets Way Too Emotional, Lands Herself Into Trouble
Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) is in legal trouble as she gets arrested for criminal damage. In the coming episodes of Coronation Street, as Amy prepares for the anti-spiking march, her father, Steve McDonald, wishes she would put the same effort into her degree. She makes the banners and heads out along with Summer, Evelyn, and Cassie Plummer. On the way, Mason and his pals start making disparaging comments. Amy is furious, and she tries to hit him with one of the banners.
A police officer spots and asks her to put the banner down. To Summer’s surprise, Amy picks up a can of paint and sprays the police car. The police officer is left with no choice but to arrest her for criminal damage, though Amy doesn’t seem to care. Summer is shocked as normally Amy would be worried about being in trouble with the police, but she isn’t because, in her head, she’s on this spiral. She is unable to see that what she’s done is wrong. Summer tries to speak with her but realises it’s tough to make her understand as, in Amy’s mind, she is right.
Coronation Street star Elle Mulvaney revealed, “‘I think she’s just very triggered. She’s seeing the same thing happen again. It’s a boy being misogynistic and the police getting involved, yet they’re just telling her off. In Amy’s mind, she hasn’t done anything wrong.” Moreover, we can recognize Amy’s actions, but all she can see is a police officer who failed to help her again. When will this downward spiral end?
