Coronation Street Stars’ Set Tour With Family Members
Coronation Street stars gave their loved ones a special tour of Weatherfield. Instead of getting all fancy for the BAFTA TV awards, some of the Corrie actors brought their family and friends right into their work world. They were so excited about it that they couldn’t help but share snaps on Instagram.
Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone Dobbs, beamed with his daughter Sienna-Rae for a photo Outside Webster’s auto center. Also, Daniel Brocklebank (Billy Mayhew) posed with his partner Jordan Coulthard right outside his soap character’s flat.
Coronation Street star wrote, “A picture on a fictional street outside the fictional flat in which my real life partner’s fictional character lives with his fictional husband and fictional daughter. This is real life.” Meanwhile, actor Antony Cotton shared his thoughts on the soap not getting nominated for this year’s BAFTA TV award.
He expressed his excitement to see how other soaps do. Although Coronation Street didn’t win Best Soap this year, it’s been victorious seven times throughout its nearly 64-year history. Lately, however, it has received a lot of backlash for turning to darker storylines.
Last month, John Whiston, managing director of continuing dramas and head of ITV in the North, addressed the trolling. According to him, Coronation Street has always been about a mix of characters, some good old down-to-earth humour, and stories that really matter, including Liam and Lauren’s plots.
John stated that the show is proud to explore important contemporary issues, and viewers really appreciate these stories and believe we deal with them in an engaging but responsible way.” He adds that’s why Corrie is still the top soap in the UK.
