Earlier in Coronation Street, Lauren Bolton bragged about her ‘mystery’ boyfriend sending her lots of expensive gifts. However, he never actually appeared. At some point, Lauren’s friends and even the viewers believed that he did not exist in real. In the upcoming episodes, it will be revealed that Lauren is no longer dating the nameless guy.
The secret is discovered when Max Turner and Sabrina ask Lauren for a double date, and she breaks down. As Sabrina interrogates Lauren about the man, her replies are almost bland. This leads her to take the matter into her own hands. However, Max sensed that their question about Lauren’s (ex)boyfriend were making her more upset.
Later in Coronation Street, he invites Lauren over lunch to compensate. Lauren fights back her tears and shares that she has broken up with the mystery man. What makes the situation more suspicious is Daniel Osbourne comforting Lauren. Max spots that Daniel gently puts her hand on Lauren’s shoulder in an attempt to calm her down.
