TV Season & Spoilers previously reported the heart-breaking news of Martha Madison deciding to quit Days of Our Lives. The actress has ruled fan hearts for over 19 years as the iconic Belle. Over the years, she has been part of many thrilling and emotional storylines, and with her stellar performance managed to carve a special place in Daytime history. However, she is now bidding goodbye to the role on the Peacock soap. Earlier this year, she expressed her complex feelings over her departure through a moving tweet on X (formerly Twitter.)
Ever since the news broke out that the actress has already filmed her last scenes for Days of Our Lives, fans had been speculating what her exit storyline would be. Some felt that she and Shawn would leave Salem together to start life afresh elsewhere. While others felt that after Shawn’s cheating debacle they would reach an impasse, and Belle would leave to get away from Shawn and the hurt of betrayal. The makers of the soap did well in keeping the lid tight on the real storyline.
As it turns out, Belle’s exit on Days of Our Lives is a very open end. Interestingly, Belle is not the only iconic character that has exit from DOOL, Gabi too has made herself scarce! And the makers managed to tie the two exits neatly in a little bow. Gabi is arrested for Li’s murder, and being tried in court for it. EJ is the D.A., while Belle is defending Gabi in court. The November 9, 2023, episode saw the judge denying Gabi bail. Thus, sending her effectively to Statesville. Not accepting defeat, Belle told EJ the the war isn’t over and that she will appeal for Gabi again.
And for now, this is where Gabi and Belle’s story is ending on Days of Our Lives. Or should we say pause? Because, like we mentioned earlier, the exit has been written in a way that both women can make a comeback at anytime! However, Martha Madison has no intentions of returning to the fold anytime soon. The fine actress bid her goodbye to the soap in a heart felt post, and thanked her fans for all the support they have given her. “The best part of this job for me has always been you,” Martha wrote as part of her farewell message.
