It is going to be almost a year since Danny Dyer quit EastEnders last Christmas. His exit came as quite a shock for the long time viewers as the actor had been a staple on the BBC One soap for over a decade. For the unversed, Danny played the character of Mick Carter, Queen Vic’s landlord. Now, in a latest chat with the media, he has dropped some explosive reasons behind why he decided to walk away from Walford, that was home to him for almost 10 years.
The EastEnders alum stated that the standard had gone down of the soap during the later part of his stay on the BBC One soap. “The first few years we f***ing smashed it. It was powerful s**t.” Danny quipped without mincing his words at all. Furthermore, he pointed that the viewers pay more attention to what they tell and preach on the shows than what the politicians of the nation say. “I was blessed with some amazing storylines,” he reminisced.
EastEnders: Danny’s Opinion About His Former Co-stars
However, Danny feels that as the soap progressed the makers fudged it all up on EastEnders. With an intense undercurrent in his tone, the actor claimed that by the end of it he had had enough. Although he does agree that it is a shame that all of it (the association) had to come to an end. Without dropping the momentum, Danny further snarled that some of the cast members had become intolerable. Including, Steve McFadden who plays Phil Mitchell.
In early 2023, The Sun had reported that Steve and Danny had stopped seeing eye to eye. Especially after the makers passed keys to The Vic from Steve’s Phil to Danny’s Mick on EastEnders. However, his harsh words were not limited to the fore-mentioned. “I’ve worked with a lot of actors that are c***s, very selfish, it’s all about them.” Danny took a dig at some unnamed members of the cast. Furthermore, he even took a shot at the production by saying that they have to look after all the other actors, it is about teamwork. Perhaps suggesting that the makers were focused only on a hand few cast members.
Going by the tough talk Danny has about the BBC One offering and people associated with it, it doesn’t look like we should be holding our breaths over his return. However, stay tuned to TV Season & Spoilers for more EastEnders updates. We will report back to you if anything change son that front!
