EastEnders: Elaine Peacock Has A New Rival In Walford This Christmas

With less than a month at hand, the countdown for EastEnders mega Christmas episode has begun. But before the festive bonanza that ends in murder begins, there is still scope for some other drama in the prelude. The latest spoilers have dropped hints for one such dramatic rivalry coming up between Elaine Peacock and the iconic Yolande Truman. But what could make these Walford matriarchs cross their swords this festive season?

In EastEnders episodes slated to air in the week of December 4, 2023, Queen Vic’s co-owner – Elaine Peacock busies herself with planning a Christmas event at her establishment. As time passes, Elaine becomes so over invested in the planning that her high expectations start to take a toll on her family. Meanwhile, Walford legend -Yolande Trueman takes to organising the community Christmas choir ahead of their performance for the festive season.

However, Yolande soon starts struggling with recruiting more performers to complete the full choir on EastEnders. In an attempt to help, Elaine steps in and offers free booze to members joining the choir. Unfortunately, things start to get out of hand when Elaine ultimately starts overpowering Yolande. Ultimately, driving a wedge between the two ladies. Actress Harriet Thorpe (Elaine) tells the media that her initial involvement with the choir was by chance, She did not intend to steal Yolande’s thunder.

A War of Egos Begin on EastEnders

“Sonia suggests it to Yolande at the Christmas lights switch on, and Elaine thinks it’s a wonderful idea and that she should be running it,” Harriet defends her character. She feels that with the professional and creative experience that Elaine has on EastEnders, it makes complete sense for her to be doing it. Thus, it is understandable that Elaine was outraged when Sonia asked Yolande to take care of the choir.

Speaking about the upcoming clash between the ladies, Harriet gushed that it was divine to film. However, the fight might appear stressful to EastEnders viewers on screen. The soap star promises that it will still be a lot of fun to watch when the women cross swords to top each other as the leader of the choir. “There is very theatrical attention-seeking on both parts,” Harriet pointed as she previewed the ego-clash between Yolande and Elaine.

Moving a little away from the frictions and conflicts, Harriet also took a moment to praise the EastEnders producers for showcasing some really solid female friendships on the soap. For instance, her character – Elaine’s friendship with Kathy. The actress feels they both share a very honest and mature relationship. But will Elaine be able to strike a chord with Yolande, after starting off on the wrong foot? We’ll have to wait and find out!
