EastEnders: Ross Kemp Unveils Barbara’s Heartfelt FINAL Words!

EastEnders star Ross Kemp, known for playing Grant Mitchell, shared a heartfelt message from her onscreen bestie, Barbara. Grant is the son of Barbara’s Peggy Mitchell, who featured on the show from 1990 until 1999. Then, Ross continued making several occasional appearances throughout the 2000s. EastEnders: Ross Gets A Sweet Note From Her EE Bestie!

Ross and Barbara got really close during their time on EastEnders. The duo developed a strong bond during their time on the London-based soap. Moreover, Ross fondly described it as “very special” during a recent chat on Loose Women. He expressed, “She was my best friend, and I loved her dearly, and I miss her.” The iconic Queen Vic landlady, Peggy, met her demise on her own request.

EastEnders legend Barbara bid farewell to the world in 2020 at the age of 83 after battling Alzheimer’s Disease since 2014. Ross was tasked with writing a eulogy for her last rite. As he went to grab a pen, he bumped into a letter from Barbara herself. And guess what? Kemp struggled so much to come up with words for the eulogy. Furthermore, he added, “It took me two days to write it because I was crying, sobbing through it.”

The EastEnders star continued, “I pulled the card down, and it was a card from her to me, from flowers.” Additionally, the actor recounted a spooky moment at the time. He explained, “I’m not into all that stuff about ghosts and dolls and all that stuff, but that was a weird moment.” And get this: Barbara was an actress adored by the EE family. A bunch of her co-stars have continued to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK in her memory.

Her passing got several stars, including Jake Wood, Adam Woodyatt, Natalie Cassidy, and Tanya, into action. They joined forces with Barbara’s husband, Scott, to form Babs’ Army. Together, they ran the London Marathon to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s Research UK in her honour.
