EastEnders actor Shona McGarty, who is known to be playing the role of Whitney, is emotional. The actress shared an emotional message on her social media platform and talked about the show and her time on it.
Long-time viewers know that McGarty has been a part of EastEnders for the past 16 years. Her last episode on the screen appeared yesterday, and she revealed her plans about watching it with someone special. Let’s find out!
EastEnders Star Shona McGarty Is Leaving The Show
The 32-year-old EastEnders legend confirmed that she is leaving Albert Square, and her last episode aired yesterday i.e, 23rd May, 2024. The Whitney Dean star is departing the show with an ongoing explosive storyline. Regular viewers know that Zack cheated on her with Lauren which will lead to her fleeing the Square forever.
As the fallout from the chaotic wedding continued, Shona took to her Instagram and shared her feelings about the show. In a video posted to her Instagram, she said, “Hey guys. So this is a little message just to say I have, of course, been following Whitney’s journey this week, and obviously, it’s her last week, which has been really emotional to watch because I know it’s coming to an end.”
Furthermore, the EastEnders actor also told her audience that she has been rehearsing for her part in 2:22 A Ghost Story. So, she won’t be able to watch the final episode, and her partner will return on Saturday. McGarty explained that she wants to watch her final episode with her partner and family, and she will watch it on Saturday instead.
After the video cut off, Shona posted another video where she apologised after getting emotional talking about EastEnders. She said, “Sorry about that. Got a bit emotional, which is understandable. I’ve been there 16 years,” she continued. “It has been really emotional, and I just want to say thank you to everyone who has ever supported Whitney ever, or even if you didn’t and gave me a hate comment. You know.”
Then she spoke about how she is excited for her future and EastEnders, too. Moreover, the actress also dropped hints about coming back in the near future. Shona said, “And who knows, the door is wide open, and Whitney could come back in her high heels and really big earrings one day.” Whitney has bid adieu to Walford after going through several ups and downs over the years.
