TV Season & Spoilers has extensively reported the shocking return of Jack Branning’s long-lost daughter – Penny Branning on EastEnders. For several years now, the child had been living away from Walford and her father under her mother’s care. However, Penny is all grown up now and ready for homecoming in the New Year. But what is it that really brings her back to Albert Square? Let’s take a look!
As reported earlier, newcomer Kitty Castledine has taken over the role of Jack’s wheelchair-bound daughter on EastEnders. “Penny is great. She’s so cool, and she’s got this dry humour that I love,” Kitty gushed to the media. She is returning to Walford after 15 long years. After living with her mother – Selina Branning, in France for all that time.
Speaking further about her character, Kitty pointed out that Penny has a very French persona on EastEnders. She perhaps adopted it to blend in with the people she was surrounded with. However, she admits that returning to Walford will be a reality check for her. As for her relationships, Kitty believes that, like everyone else in Walford, family is very important to Penny, too.
She has already struck a chord with her cousin Lauren on EastEnders. Kitty asserts that Penny can see how badly Lauren misses Albi. And while Penny in no way wants to replace her, she still feels like Lauren now has someone to be close to. “I do feel like she is my cousin,” Kitty raves about how nice Jaqueline is as a person. The newcomer insists that the two struck a great rapport from the first day of the filming itself. Earlier, showrunner – Chris Clenshaw had teased that there will be some massive family drama surrounding the Branning in the coming months.
And EastEnders has already started to head in that direction. Jack and Denise’s domestic stability has completely fallen apart on the BBC One soap. Meanwhile, early spoilers for 2024 tease that Penny and Lauren celebrate NYE together in Paris. However, something goes awry that evening. Which ultimately pushes the girls to return home to Walford the very next day. In fact, some pictures from the shoot went viral recently and show the airport police arresting Lauren.
