Coronation Street fans are fuming with anger as their beloved soap vanished from screens on a Friday night, making way for football. Clearly, Corrie viewers are least interested in watching England take on Sweden in the football match. The unexpected scheduling change has sparked outrage on social media. Keep scrolling to know all about this schedule shake-up!
Football Hijacks The Time Slot Of Coronation Street
Coronation Street fans were super mad because their favourite show didn’t show up on Friday. Normally, Corrie’s aired at 8 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, but not this time. Instead of the usual Corrie drama, viewers got stuck with International Football.
ITV went through a schedule shake-up, and it is a total disappointment for Coronation Street fans. England vs. Sweden UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 qualifying competition sabotaged the soap’s time slot. The competition determines the 15 teams joining the automatically qualified host Switzerland in the tournament.
Fans didn’t hold back on social media, lashing out. One user expressed disappointment by saying that ITV has done it again—replacing football with Coronation Street. Another penned, “It’s as boring as f*** and has ruined the Friday night viewing of MILLIONS of people.”
A third fan went too far, complaining that who wants to watch a load of ponytailed blonde Swedish lasses running around in shorts getting sweaty? However, ITV made it up to us by giving us an extra hour of Coronation Street on Tuesday. But for loyal fans, the disruption was a bitter pill to swallow.
Well, we can totally understand their frustration, as a lot is happening in Corrie currently. The show has many big storylines coming up, including Sarah Platt and Gary Windass’s reconciliation plot. Anyways, has ITV’s apology been accepted, fans? Let us know in the comment section below. For more Coronation Street updates & spoilers, keep checking TV Season & Spoilers!
