General Hospital: Backstage SHAKEUP, Reason For Babies Being So Big REVEALED

There is a string of new characters that just entered the world of General Hospital. Undoubtedly they are the cutest joinees to the cast in recent times! However, there have been a lot of snickers and chuckle doing rounds regarding the new entrants of the soap. The reason, you might ask? Well, their size! But hey, we are not talking about body shaming here! The characters in question are the newborn babies of Nik and Esme and Michael and Willow. Ever since the cutie patooties appeared on the screen, some fans took to social media to point out that the babies don’t look like newborn babies.

Netizens reasoned that the babies shown on General Hospital look at least a few months old, and it’s hard to look at them as newborns. Furthermore, they added that the makers should have used life-like dolls instead, or just a rolled-up baby blanket like many other shows do. However, actress Rebecca Herbst (Liz) rightly interjected that using a doll or a blanket would not bring out the same emotion that a real baby cuddling with the parents would do. Moreover, the babies portraying Ace (Esme’s son) and Amelia (Willow’s daughter) and just so adorable that a doll or blanket could compete with that.

Addressing the reason why General Hospital opted for older babies rather than actual newborns, Rebecca pointed toward COVID. The talented actress took to her official Twitter account to clarify the matter. Especially when fans started questioning Willow’s premature daughter. Rebecca wrote that the rules on the sets had changed ever since COVID. Rebecca shared that General Hospital is no longer comfortable with having infants younger than three months on the sets. She agreed that it is a little hard to look past a “ginormous” newborn. However, she applauded GH for the decision.

We agree that the safety of a baby comes first and the realism of the size is secondary. Besides, the fact that those munchkins are so cute should be enough to shrug off the size imbalance. What do you think? Can you look past a little glitch if it serves a bigger purpose? Please share your views in the comments below.
