It has been a while since we saw Vanessa Marcil walk the grounds of Port Charles as Brenda on General Hospital. However, long-time fans still miss her dearly on the soap and often wonder if he would return at some point. Well, we bring to you the information directly from the horse’s mouth! Recently, the popular actress addressed the matter on a live chat. On February 10, 2023, Vanessa spoke to her fans on a Zoom session arranged by Coastal Entertainment.
Unsurprisingly, fans posted the question of her return to General Hospital. “My Gosh,” she gushed at the prospect of returning to the ABC soap. She admitted that there is no way she wouldn’t return to the show. “I hate to even say the thing, so I won’t say the thing, but it’ll happen eventually,” SoapHub transcribed Vanessa’s statement. Of Course, fans were elated to hear her enthusiastic response to the big question of her possible return.
Vanessa Marcil first entered General Hospital as Brenda Barrett in 1992. Her GH stint gave her a kickstart in her acting career. She acknowledged that if General Hospital had not happened, she wouldn’t have the career she has. Moreover, Vanessa reflected that without that, she wouldn’t have been able to provide her family the wonderful life they now have. Hence, she will always honor where she began. Additionally, Vanessa believes that Brenda is a wonderful and one-of-a-kind character. She is multilayered and has always been ahead of her time.
Vanessa enthused that she would love to share the screen again with Maurice Benard (Sonny) on General Hospital. She admitted that she would have had a hard time acting opposite a Sonny recast. Thus, she is so relieved that Maurice is still there, and it would a “no-brainer” to go back and work with him. Over the years, Vanessa has earned three Daytime Emmy Award Nominations as the Best Supporting Actress for General Hospital. She even won the coveted trophy in 2003 for the same role.
The last time we saw Vanessa as Brenda on General Hospital was exactly a decade ago, in 2013. Interestingly, she had returned back then, right in time for GH’s 50th Anniversary. And guess what we are approaching soon. Yup! General Hospital’s 60th Anniversary! Hence, the probability of her returning to reprise her role on the opulent occasion is sky-high.
