Everyone has dark days in their lives. But when it gets too much to handle, General Hospital star Michael E. Knight has a mantra- it is, “it’s doable.” Usually, all the General Hospital fans who see Michael E. Knight coming on the canvas feel that he has the energy to enlighten the whole screen just by being in it. However, that doesn’t mean that the actor hasn’t had his shares of tough days. Recently, Michael appeared on Maurice Benard’s podcast- State of Mind, and opened up about his past struggles. The actor also gave some advice to all the viewers. Keep reading to know what it was.

General Hospital Star Michael E. Knight Opens Up About His Struggle

Speaking about his struggles in the past, the actor revealed that there were two times in his life when his train had come off the tracks. He told Maurice Benard that during these times, he realized that he cares for obsessive compulsive disorder and anxiety disorder. Explaining it further, the actor says that to simplify it, a story keeps running over and over in his mind to a point where one cannot eat or sleep.

Looking back at it, the General Hospital actor says that the first time it happened was when he was 40 years old. He was living in New York. Back in the time, he was a part of All My Children. He revealed that, on the one hand, he was able to able to function in memorizing lines and doing his job.

But, on the other hand, it had gotten very difficult to function. He wouldn’t have to strength or the energy to go to work. He would get panic attacks for days and days. In fact, it all got so bad that he lost about 20 lbs. General Hospital star remembered that their wife got worried and started to cry. Often Michael had told himself that he had it under control. But it looks like he didn’t after all. That is when his wife asked him to go see someone.

The next time this happened, the actor revealed it was during the COVID time. The height of the pandemic had struck him, and that took him down big time. Michael reached out to Benard, who is a long-time friend. He revealed that when he called Maurice, Maurice did not play it down. But he asked him if the food tasted like metal?

Remembering it, the General Hospital actor said- “someone who has been there in the gift shop of hell knows that.” He continued to weigh in on how one’s mental health can impact the nervous system. He was thankful that Maurice did not try to talk him up but helped him see that the end of the tunnel was approaching.

Since Michael himself has been through this and knows the taste of it, he had very wise advice for his fans. The actor says that once one has taken the detour and is aware of everything, one might take the good days for granted. But, they know that things could have been worst. He then reminded anyone who has been through this that it is doable.

Michael plays Martin on General Hospital, and he seems to always add up to everything that is happening in the soap opera.
