Many fan hearts shattered when General Hospital alum – Vanessa Marcil shot down the possibility of her return. Long time fans will remember that the phenomenal actress used to play Sonny’s once upon a time sweetheart – Brenda Barret on GH. However, it has been ions since she exited the soap. Yet, many fans are still holding the torch for her return.
Unfortunately, in a Tik-Tok live some time ago, Vanessa announced that she will not return to General Hospital. Furthermore, she gave her full blessing to the makers to recast the character if need be. Ever since she made the statement, fans have been speculating that we might soon see a recast Brenda arriving in Port Charles! Sources claim that the makers are considering the recast choices that are available to them. So it is very plausible that we might see Brenda make a comeback.
In fact, if Sonny’s former flame does return to PC on General Hospital, the timing would be perfect. Nina and Sonny’s relationship has a sword hanging above in form of Nina’s SEC secret. There is a huge chance that Sonny may turn his back to her when the secret spills out. Should that happen, he will certainly need a new lover, no?
Can Krista Allen Be The New Brenda Barrett on General Hospital?
Now, coming to the options that the makers could be weighing in on, we can’t help but wonder if The Bold and The Beautiful’s loss will become General Hospital’s gain! As we reported earlier, Krista Allen is no longer going to be part of B&B. She has been popularly portraying the role of Taylor Hayes on CBS soap. However, she announced to deadline a few moons ago that her contract has not been renewed and that Taylor is not required in the story moving forward.
However, in the same chat, Krista mentioned that although she is now moving to Georgia. But added that she could still commute to Los Angeles if the right role comes along. So could that “right” role come to her in form of Brenda on General Hospital? There is certainly a possibility! Krista Allen is a seasoned soap star. She has a massive fan following from her role as recast Taylor on B&B, as well as, a recast Billie Reed on DOOL, back in the late 90’s. Are you seeing the pattern here?
And honestly, Brenda has been so iconic on General Hospital, that it really would need a star of Krista Allen’s caliber to do justice to the role.
