Is Greenleaf Season 6 Happening?
As per a report by Deadline, the latest season of the series was the number one series on the broadcast among African American women. The last episode drew a viewership of about 2.1 million viewers. However, back when the fifth season was released, the creators announced that it would be the last season of the show. So, there will not be a Greenleaf Season 6. This cancellation seems like a creative decision, given that viewership was so nice.
The Cast Speaks About The Cancellation
The cast of the show has been quite open on social media during their time on the show. Keith David, who plays the character of Bishop James, took on to his social media to speak about his time on the show. In an Instagram post, he says that It is a rare situation where those who are playing the part of a dysfunctional family don’t get tangled up in the energy and are able to maintain and manage healthy, growing professional and personal relationships. He says that each opportunity was a chance to live through the relationships. He says that all the beautiful actors have contributed to his life in ways that the words cannot express.
Actor Lamman Rucker also spoke about this end. She says that the fans are the real Greenleaf family. They will all miss everyone. She urged fans not to forget them. She asked all fans to bring them to their homes, keep them in their hearts, and hold onto them firmly FOREVER. Rucker says that they will always belong to the fans.
A Spin-off Series Is Into Works
While all fans are sad about Greenleaf Season 5 not happening, the creators have revealed that this is not the end. In an interview with TV Line, OWN said that the spin-off has always been in the back of creators’ heads. The fan base only helped in accelerating the timeline. While we don’t know what this spin-off series would bring in, we will know soon. Back in May 2020, OWN took on to Twitter as they announced the Greenleaf Spin-off. They posted a short video. Greenleaf’s premiere schedule has been erratic. The show sometimes aired in spring, summer, or even late fall. The series was about six months apart.
