Vasana Montgomery’s time on Love Island USA Season 8 was over before it even began. Peacock announced her as part of the new cast on the reality show, but removed her just two days later. A few old social media videos resurfaced showing her using a racial slur. The videos spread quickly once they got out, which led to her termination from the show.
Now, Vasana took to social media to issue a public apology, taking full responsibility for her words. Montgomery’s removal marks the third time in just two seasons that Peacock has had to take action over a racist slur. How did Montgomery express regret for her words? Keep reading for the full story.

The Season 8 cast of Love Island USA is here, and they are already turning heads. Peacock has revealed the full lineup, and this group is bringing serious energy to the villa. Aniya Harvey from Georgia, Beatriz Hatz from San Diego, Bryce Dettloff from Los Angeles, and Gabriel Vasconcelos from Miami are among the first names announced. Kenzie Annis from Georgia and KC Chandler from Fresno are also joining the lineup. Every islander comes loaded with bold personalities, big plans, and a burning desire to find love on camera.
The rest of the cast rounds things out nicely. Melanie Moreno, Sean Reifel, Sincere Rhea, and Trinity Tatum bring even more heat to the villa. Zach Georgiou from Birmingham, England, also made the cut. With so many different backgrounds and personalities under one roof, clashing connections and unexpected twists, and a whole lot of drama.
Vasana Montgomery, a 25-year-old from Beaverton, Oregon, did not last long on Love Island USA Season 8. Peacock announced her as part of the cast on May 28, but removed her just two days later. Old social media videos surfaced showing her using a racial slur. In one clip, she used the n-word directly. In another, she rapped along to song lyrics containing the same slur. The videos had previously been set to private but quickly spread online.

Montgomery took to Instagram to issue a public apology. “In those videos, I used a racial slur. There is no excuse for it, and I am deeply sorry,” she wrote. She said she was embarrassed and disappointed by her words and took full responsibility. She also acknowledged that growth does not erase her mistake and that she was not asking anyone to excuse it. “To anyone I hurt or disappointed, I am truly sorry,” she added.
Vasana’s past clips were reportedly private and only surfaced after the cast announcement. So the Love Island USA team likely did not see them during the vetting process. Montgomery’s exit follows two Season 7 removals with the same issue. Past contestants, Yulissa Escobar and Cierra Ortega, received the same treatment after they used racial slurs. Hopefully, this serves as a reminder for future contestants to be more aware of their language. For more updates, follow TV Season & Spoilers.
