Stephanie Sanger was initially suspiciously looked at by some My 600 Lb Life fans. As they guessed that Steven Assanti was involved in a catfishing scandal. But it seems like Sanger was not lying in a June 2018 interview. Wherein this licensed massage therapist mentioned that she was attracted to Steven when she saw him during his health journey on the TLC show despite his outrageous behavior. Stephanie continued that she wanted to know him not merely because he was a reality TV celebrity but because she had a feeling that he was her soulmate. Steven and his wife did not pay much attention to the rumors but rather found them humorous.
This couple has recently not been active on their social media accounts. Stephanie Sanger’s last Facebook upload was in December 2022, which, too, was an image of her dog. While her last picture with her husband was shared in March 2019. Likewise, Assanti has not shared anything featuring Stephanie besides his Instagram caption stating he is married. Besides this, his extremely active TikTok account included a video indicating that the couple is still married.
In December 2022, Assanti shared a clip wherein he admitted that he was a loser many times. He continued stating that he is married and loves his wife, and she loves him back. While in a video from May 2023, Assanti did not mention his wife. This leads to the brewing of speculations about their marital status.

Like Steven, his brother Justin Assanti is also famously known for his antic behavior. Both the Assanti brothers became popular for sharing their weight loss journey on My 600 Lb Life under the supervision of Dr. Now. However, both these brothers were unwilling to take advice. But Steven being the heavier brother, was more erratic than brother Justin. These brothers were reluctant to seek assistance. Their unwillingness can also be a result of the abuse they have suffered as children. They had a mother with drinking issues and a father who did not share a smooth bond with his sons. Besides this, Justin was even bullied by Steven.
This toxic family dynamics brewed the emotional eating problem of these brothers. Furthermore, Justine chose to stand up for himself and later underwent bariatric surgery under the assistance of their doctor. While Steven continued to struggle with obesity. Justin has even broken his ties with Steven and has been improving in his life. However, the Assanti brothers are not on talking terms.
