Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are getting ready for a trip to Nigeria. The African country’s chief of defence staff extended an invitation to the Sussexes for some cultural shindigs. It will be their first time hitting Nigeria together, on an unofficial royal tour. But before flying off to Nigeria, Prince Harry will swing by the UK. He’ll throw a bash for the Invictus Games’ big 10th anniversary at St Paul’s Cathedral on May 8. But the rumours brush off the possibility of any reunion. Read on to find out more!
Prince Harry: The Family Reunion Won’t Happen Anytime Soon!
There is no word whether Meghan or any other royal bigwigs will join Prince Harry at the UK event. The Sussexes office and Buckingham Palace have remained tight-lipped about any family reunions with William or King Charles this time. This comes after the Duke of Sussex visited the UK in February to be with his dad after a post-cancer diagnosis. Back to the Nigeria trip, Prince Harry and Meghan will mingle with the service members and their families.
They will partake in traditional cultural activities to get a taste of Nigerian culture. This trip would be super special for Meghan, who discovered she’s 43% Nigerian last year through a genealogy test. Likewise, the Nigerian defence HQ is pumped to have them, saying it’s a big honour. Royal watcher Richard Fitzwilliams believes the Nigeria jaunt is a smart move. Nigeria is keen on hosting future Invictus Games, and Meghan’s roots are like a cherry on the cake.
However, it’s not a sign that Prince Harry is jumping back into official royal business. Still, it would be a strategic public relations effort, especially since Meghan plans to skip the UK event. Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan Markle are still doing their thing back in California. The couple leads a fulfilling life in Montecito with their two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The US-based royals have remained active juggling family life with public appearances and charity work.
These include Harry’s pet project, the Invictus Games, which supports the injured and sick military personnel and veterans. Anyway, we can’t say if a royal surprise will spice up Harry’s bash. We’ll just have to wait and see! Until then, don’t miss out on more royal updates over at TV Season & Spoilers!
