Prince Harry Seeks Family Reconciliation
Even after quitting royal life in 2020 with Meghan, Prince Harry continued to celebrate Diana’s legacy through various humanitarian efforts. Despite this, the Duke of Sussex has been vocal in slamming the royal family. Moreover, he didn’t mince words to criticise King Charles, Queen Camilla, and his sister-in-law Kate Middleton, especially in his autobiography ‘Spare.’ Furthermore, the US-based royals even participated in a controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey, which further strained family relations.
However, Harry extended an olive branch when the Reigning Monarch and the Princess of Wales were diagnosed with cancer. His choice to keep a low-profile hinted at wanting to resolve the rift, and he has shown signs of peace-seeking behaviour. Additionally, Harry kept his cool during his travels to the UK and by bailing out on events that could spark controversy. In his memoir, the Duke bashes his brother William but also expresses a desire for family reconciliation.
Prince Harry wrote, “I’d come to those gardens because I wanted peace. I wanted it more than anything.” The royal wanted peace for himself and his family’s sake but also for hers. Yep, he referred to Princess Diana. He continued, “She was always working to bring peace to someone somewhere.” Harry added, “I knew how desperately she would want—no, did want—peace between her boys and between us two and Pa.” Unfortunately, the Duke’s efforts couldn’t mend the fences.
The rift between him and William has deepened, reaching an all-time low. According to reports, Prince Harry politely conversed with Hugh regarding his wedding invitation. They decided it would be best for Harry not to attend. With William serving as an usher, the potential awkwardness likely convinced Harry to skip the wedding. The royal wanted to avoid any drama and further strain on family relations. Ultimately, he wishes to honour his mother’s legacy and wishes for family unity.
