Even while living in front of the camera may seem glamorous, some reality TV kids don’t always enjoy it. Teen Mom stars Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra’s daughter, Nova, recently talked about what it’s like to grow up on television. Fans are raising an eyebrow at her confession of honesty, to put it mildly.
The 11-year-old recently discussed the Teen Mom filming on her parents’ podcast, Cate & Ty Break It Down! Although Nova grew up surrounded by cameras almost every day. She realized that life is quite different and, to be honest, a lot easier when there is no constant filming. But does this indicate that Nova is quietly preparing to say goodbye to her reality TV life?

For years, Teen Mom viewers have followed the story of Catelynn Lowell, Tyler Baltierra, and their first daughter, Carly. When the couple appeared on 16 and Pregnant as teens, they gave Carly up for adoption. Her adoptive parents, Teresa and Brandon Davis, initially permitted them to maintain contact over time. But according to reports, things changed recently when Teresa and Brandon cut off communication after Tyler and Cateltnn crossed some boundaries.
Since then, fans have fueled a heated debate online over the situation. Tyler and Catelynn have publicly expressed their emotions about the situation on social media. Which has only created further debate among fans. In fact, Tyler just created further heat by reacting to an online fan comment. By stating that he has come to terms with the situation and will continue to support Carly “from the sidelines.”
Nova explained that because she has been on TV since childhood, she doesn’t really know what a “normal” life looks like without a camera. But she has started to notice the difference now that the filming has slowed down. Nova said it is “more freeing” not to have the film crew around all the time.
She added that although she really likes the production crew, the cameras sometimes annoy her. Nova remembered times when she just wanted to be with her grandmother, but cameras were everywhere. She had to deal with a filming happening all around her rather than enjoying a quiet family moment.
Also, the young reality star revealed something that many viewers could find surprising. According to Nova, there are moments when the actual filming process might be frustrating. She explained that since the show is meant to be “reality,” it doesn’t make sense for some moments to be repeatedly recorded. She believes that, rather than reshooting scenes, reality TV should reflect what actually happens.
Nova also stated that family time may occasionally be disrupted by filming. She said that there were times when she wished she could have spent time with her parents, but they had to prioritize filming. They sometimes needed to convince her to move aside so they could record specific sequences. Catelynn explained that those scenes often featured adult conversations that weren’t appropriate for kids.
Nova isn’t completely opposed to the show despite all of that. She even said that if Teen Mom: The Next Chapter were to return, she would be willing to resume filming. One big reason? Many members of the film team have been part of her life for years, and she misses them. It’s interesting to note that one of the show’s producers is her godmother.
The show’s future is still up in the air. After a new company acquired MTV, Catelynn revealed that the show is currently in a weird situation. The cast is still unsure of whether the network will renew the show or shut the cameras off for good, because their contracts are about to expire. And it seems that Nova might not mind living a little more freely after all if that happens. Keep coming back to TV Season & Spoilers for more updates.
