For Teen Mom stars Taylor Selfridge and Cory Wharton, things have recently been extremely dramatic. Fans closely followed social media for updates as their 3-year-old daughter, Maya, was in the hospital for more than two weeks. It was clear that this was one of the most difficult times for Taylor and Cory, who are not afraid to share their ups and downs.
Taylor went so far as to explain it as the “most stressful” hospital stay they had ever had. But it seems that the storm may finally be easing up after weeks of fear and unpredictability. And Cory posted an Instagram update that left everyone holding their breath, just as fans thought the couple could finally relax at home. Could the Whartons really be living their best lives again after such a serious medical scare?

Teen Mom star Cory revealed a part of parenting that no one ever plans on in an emotional Instagram post. He explained the heartbreaking moments he spent sitting helplessly beside his daughter, Maya’s, hospital bed as she silently begged for help with just her eyes. He admitted that, even after his best efforts to show her confidence, he was afraid and helpless.
Doctors had to remove casts from her lungs and carry out crucial procedures in the cath lab to regulate her oxygen levels when they suspected plastic bronchitis, an uncommon and dangerous condition. Maya had five surgeries in all, and she needed a ventilator twice. Cory, who called his daughter “Lil Red,” couldn’t stop praising her strength through it all.
Teen Mom star Cory posted a happy video of the family having a fun day at the theme park, and, sure, Maya was there, laughing and having a good time. Fans were both swooning and crying at the same time after spending weeks in the intensive care unit. They were shown in the video riding roller coasters, bathing in the sun, and just enjoying every moment together. Their journey was well captured in Cory’s caption: “Weeks ago we were praying in a hospital room… today we’ve got our hands in the air. Perspective changes everything. We’re not just surviving anymore, we’re living. HEALTHY IS WEALTH.”
He didn’t just stop there and post a joyful video. In the video, he also became emotional, writing for Maya, “3 weeks ago, we were in the ICU Unit praying her oxygen would go up.” He also wrote promising her that, “Today we are going to celebrate LIFE & live life to the fullest! I promise you, baby girl, that’s exactly what we’re gonna do. Love you, Lil Red, no matter what, daddy & mommy will always gonna be there for you.” Fans couldn’t get enough of the mix of happiness, relief, and pure parental love.
Fans showered the comments with love and support. A user wrote that seeing Maya in this video makes her smile. This young child deserves to experience life to the fullest. May God bless you and your loved ones. Everyone is obviously invested in Maya’s recovery because of the Teen Mom family’s emotional rollercoaster.
